Questions for the board...

ZW didn't lose us the game. That's what's important. BC he very well may coming up. The season looks like it will be pretty much the difference between the games he didn't lose for us and the games he is pretty much responsible for losing.

He still looks like he's playing pop Warner football. The TD to GW was a bad throw. This roster has the ability to elevate his crappy play.

1) Yes, they are better.

2) Until they get themselves figured out, they seem worse.

3) RB group is stronger. Breece doesn't seemed to have skipped a beat and Cook is an upgrade over Carter.

3 (?)) WR group is still a question mark, much like the repeated number. I don't know if Davis is better than Lazard in this system yet.

4)  I'm waiting

5) DL group is stronger, especially if QW keeps getting more snaps like he did this week.

6) The safeties look remarkably improved. We'll see if Sauce is still the ROY he was last year.

7) LB group is a question mark. Quincy looks better but Mosley may look a little worse.

Coaching is definitely stronger, in my opinion. They lose this game last season.

4) Zach to me seems more confident, can recover from mistakes and get better as the game goes on. I don't think he's totally viable as a starter for the whole season, however, especially if the Jets want to make a deep playoff run. If he can improve as he plays more game here that would be wonderful. He certainly had a better game than Allen.

Seen this argument a few places and I don’t really get it. I thought Wilson looked no different than the guy we last saw sh*tting his pants against Jacksonville.

I think he looked better than that yesterday but I fear we're going to see that version of him again soon.  Saleh can't just try to hide ZW all year.  He has to let him go out there and try to improve.

100%. he was running around like a headless chicken skirting disaster. then he made a few throws. some of his throws were ok, but really, it was the roster around him that elevated his play. the roster is better than it was last year and that's the difference. if he can settle down and trust his guys and stop running backwards maybe he'll "look better"

1) Do you think the special teams are stronger this season?  Added punter and electrifying return man who isn't a human fair catch.

2) Do you think the online is stronger this season?  Healthy AVT & Becton

3) Do you think RB group is stronger this season? Healthy Breece & Cook

3) Do you think WR group is stronger? Lazard added bitter complainer moved out

4) ... wait for it

5) Do you think DL group is stronger this season? Multi additions to a strong group

6) Do you think DB group is stronger this season?  Actually adding safeties to top CBs

7) Do you think LB group is stronger this season? Quincy playing like he did yesterday all season will improve the group by himself.

😎😎 Do you think the coaching is stronger this season?  Salah earned his stripes last night by leading team to an all time gutty performance.

... 4) Do you think Zach is stronger this season? You are not being honest if you didn't see a different Zach Wilson out there last night. Played within himself, no big turnover in second half and made a couple of huge plays when needed most.

This team is still one of the top teams in the NFL.

I think yes to all except wr.  Davis is a bigger loss than many think. The oline is stronger but needs to get into synch and pass block better.  The thing is a superior running team can make some serious noise because the rest of the nfl is so focused on passing.  If they can get a dominating run game going things could turn out well. Easier said than done because they can’t run as well when the box is being stacked.  But last night becton did pancake two defenders on the same play.

I refuse to believe in ZW unless he does it. I can’t get my hopes up.

The Jets would literally not let him to throw the ball after the forced fumble on Allen.

A lot of teams would run the ball there.  A lot would have tried GW singled out on the sideline at least once.  With a well thrown ball he probably comes down with it to go up by a TD.

But the drive prior he made plays that resulted in being down in the gold zone and GW willed the ball in to the EZ.  There was no huge run on that drive.  Tied the game.

The key thing is late in the 4th when we needed it most he made throws that resulted in a tie game.  Josh Allen buttfumbling with 5m to go was when we decided to sit on it.  Zach has never been on that stage before and we need him for the near future.  Not putting him in a situation where he could lose the game when it's a sound game decision not to, I think is the smart play.

Sure, in Zach's case, going from "really terrible" to just "terrible" is technically considered "improvement". But he's still terrible. At the position that matters more than all of the others combined.

He threw an epically bad INT and the TD was an INT too that an elite receiver stole back for us. It was an awful throw that should have sealed the deal for Buffalo.

Yes, this is spot on. He gets a short prep week but it will for the most part be his first with the new o staff ( pre season doesn't count imo)

Zach has to take small steps every week and his confidence and the team's in him will build.  Dallas ' anomaly vs Giants didn't scare me and sure won't intimidate this team.

We haven't been in the playoffs in 12 (going on 13) years. The last 5, Joe Douglas is calling the shots.

Douglas has improved the team every year here. He hasn't been perfect but this was  playoff team last year without the devastating string of injuries

1)  Of course the whole world knew mann stunk except for douglas and saleh.

2) No, Brown is a year older and looked rusty, Becton was okay, thomlinsn stinks

3) No, same as last year, Awesome Garet Wilson and a bunch of mediocre to jags

4) Sure Wilson is better, still not good enough still makes the one or two terrible plays a game, better?  So far marginally.

5) Yes, Because of Jermaine johnson, it is still over built, law of diminishing returns for playing time.

6) Yes, safeties are better so far but only one game

7) No, the same, Williams is okay, mosley is bad.

eight)  Too early to say, saleh might be a bit better, the oc is not better if not worse imo.

The team can win if they create turnovers, be even on specials and don't get the RBs hurt.

QB is still the bottom of the league , O line is suspect at best and a liability at worst , I still don’t trust the coaches ..they still have a target on their back for right or wrong cuz of the hard knocks bravado …and the schedule is harder …5-6 wins tops .

1) Yes , the f course, we have a consistently decent to good punter this year. If Gipson can provide decent returns sprinkled with really good returns, we should be stronger.

2) Yes, but they are out position. Based on what we saw yesterday. Both Becton and AVT should be on the left.

3) Yes. I hope that Carter can make more of an impact with the chances he gets.

4) Yes. I can't wait for an opportunity to see that a decent passer (Wilson or otherwise) exploits the skills of the receiving unit.

5) Yes. Clemons and Johnson were clutch last night.

6) If Whitehead can keep it up, boy oh boy.

7) Sherwood contributed, but the man in the LB group is Little Q, Quincy! Mosley is the weakest link.

😎 8 Coaching is very suspect. Especially the first half, the calls were not elite.

9) Zach is not better. He is absolutely the same. At least last night, he was the same.

5 or 6 wins this year and I will join the negative side. I honestly feel this would be an impossible underachievement

1. Yes.

2. Last night they looked about as bad as they did after losing AVT last season. I know the blocking system has changed and they haven't had a lot of time together in this group, so hoping this improves over the next several weeks.

3a. Yes but with the change at QB there will need to be more rotation to balance injury risk. Hall keeps the offense alive just like last year. That means he has to touch the ball a lot.

3b. Yes. Once you got past Davis and GW last year the rest of the receivers were more problem than solution. The vets brought in this year are fine but the rookies at the bottom of the depth chart have a lot of potential.

5. Yes. JJ and Clemson looked more comfortable in the defense than last year.

6. Yes despite Sauce having a lackluster game.

7. I dunno. Mosley looked worse and everybody else showed improvement.

8. The defense seemed more in sync but across the board I wasn't enthused by tackling. Defenders often seemed to lack urgency to make tackles. Given what happened last night I don't think it's fair to assess the offensive coaching either way yet. The team did enough to beat one of the best teams in the league so it's not the week to criticize whether the coaches did enough.

4. I thought he looked better than his last few games last season but a little less confident than he appeared in his best performances last year. Less error prone but still making some really bad decisions when panicked. I'm sure he came in with zero mental preparation to see the field and was probably a little rattled. Like the coaching, we'll see what happens in the next few weeks as they dial in the offense with him.

I think it will be interesting to see how Hackett and AR develop the passing game to ZW strengths... I bet the game plan very differently to help ZW read defenses easier with easier route progressions
