Turning the page. How do we beat the Cowboys? PVO

1. Replace Offensive Line

2. 3 Step one read drop plass plays only

3. Establish the running game - OUTSIDE to tire the defense down.

4. Hit Garrett on short slants, Conklin on a couple post routes when the D creeps up and gets caught in cover 2.

5. Do no allow Zach to scan the field.

6. Depend on the Juggernaut Defense and our star rookie.

Nice post!

#1 is a big ask, but OK.

Who is the Juggernaut and our star rookie?

The fact that you’re the guy who started a “Zach Wilson is THE guy” thread and you’re positing this as a key to winning is amusing to me.

Clearly you do not understand that the Cowboys rush will be under 3 seconds. That's ok, you will learn. NO QB would have time .. id have said the same thing if Aaron were under center.

Think they would trust zach with some shotgun ? With all those guys up front, have to attack deep part of the field.

To me the biggest thing here unless, of course, we just shut Dallas down with our defense. Is Zach being able to get the ball a bit down field to keep Dallas’s defense honest. We are going to have to make some plays downfield to back the Boys off from stacking the box. The Jets would be fine with a Trent Dilfer type quarterback. Zach doesn’t have to do a lot he just needs to do enough.

Agreed.  But to go down field we need to slow the Dallas pass rush.  Can we slow down Micah?  Oline has to step up.  Play action after establishing the run?  Maybe...

The Jets can’t get into the mindset of run run pass. They have to allow Zach to throw the ball on early downs in different spots of the game. If we are constantly putting him in third and longs, it’s a problem.

Agreed, but to allow time for down field routes, we may have to move the pocket or PA, or some other way to slow down the rush.  Will see how the OL is doing after the first couple of series.

Cowboys defense is not particularly big and physical. Jets should be able to move the ball on the ground. Hwy77 should get a lot of traffic.

Jets defense should be able to dominate. If they can take the ball away, Jets should prosper. An upset would not shock me.

everyone forgets what this team was last year, with far lesser offensive talent.  zach had them 5-1 behind defense and a running game, with MiLF as the OC.

keep it simple with zach, easy passes he's comfortable with.  run the ball with breece and cook.  play good defense - dallas somehow has a good offense with 1 WR in Lamb.

i don't know why everyone thinks this is such a monumental task.

No one forgets. We just realize that the season is 17 games, not 6.

You got this part right!

This would require Wilson to actually throw a pass…. that’s where you lost me.

With time to recover from the Rodgers injury and to plan for Wilson, I
would expect Hackett & Downing to revert to what they did with him
during pre-season.  Where Wilson generated:

37/56 (66%)  365 yards  TD

Which was similar to what Wilson put up in the second half against
BUF when the staff had time to adjust:

9/13 (69%)  100 yards  TD

Wilson needs to put extra work in with his receivers because during camp
and pre-season his reps were mainly with Gipson, Brownlee and Charles.
He needs to have better chemistry with Wilson, Lazard, Hardman & Cobb.

As far as DAL is concerned:

- Their DLine is fast but not big and Parsons plays "LB" but mainly pass
rushes
- I would look to have multiple TE sets to lean on/grind DAL DLine and
run at Parsons to tire him out
- In addition I would try to get Parsons into matchups where he actually
has to drop in pass coverage against TE/RB
- Defensively I would expect a better performance from Gardner and hope
for better tackling from Mosley.  Other than those two there's nothing to
complain about, it would be great to get another 4 turnovers but you can't
expect that.  But Prescott has been known to turn it over similar to Allen

Always the calming voice of reason.  Thank you.

Go Jets! :)

1) Play awesome defense.

2) Avoid doing what the Giants did — allowing huge mistakes to give the Cowboys a big lead. We can’t comeback against them, can’t fall behind.

3) Run the ball early and often, and creatively.

4) Try to get the ball to Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall in space.

5) Win a low scoring rock fight. We need to hold them to 17 or less to win IMO.

1) If awesome is enough, yes.

2) Agree it's preferable, but they just overcame a 10-point deficit to Buffalo

3) Presumably you mean the RBs. I saw Zach running backwards "creatively" and perhaps Hackett should convince him to run forward because Dallas will suspect that the least of all.

4) Jones got the ball to Barkley in space and it turned into a pick 6.

5) Your math is off. You shouldn't have carried the 1.

Hackett is one thousand times smarter than me - but designed rollouts - and often?

Zach seems to be better when throwing on the run. When he tries to sit in the pocket - it goes to sh_t for him.

Have him rollout and short passes (yeah I know he dirts them often) and if the downfield receiver is open - let if fly.

If the plan is stay in the pocket and read the defense - it could be 8 sacks and 3 int's.

Different path…. Same result. 3rd & long.

At least Run, Run, Run lessens the chances of a turnover and increases the chance of a 1st down!
