Parsons is the best defensive player in the game and it’s not even close

It’s basically impossible to scheme against him and even if you call the right protections to stop him he just blows through it. He the closest thing I’ve seen to Lawrence Taylor in the past 30 years.

Seems the jets didn't even try...

He was on the board at #2 overall.

Joe Douglas opted for Zachary Kapono Wilson.

Stop. The Jets were always picking a QB with the 2OA pick and this board with have melted down if they did not. Unfortunately they won a meaningless December game against the Jags and they weren't able to pick Lawrence instead.

That may be true but it was moronic for a GM to do that

You wonder if it was the GM.

That game helped build a winning culture though

and you’re not a real fan if you didn’t want them to win that game

He's  good but with Brown in front him he looked All-Universe. It's not hard for a young DE to go to work on a 39 year blocker with late reflexes.

I believe he just set the NFL record for most sacks in his 1st 35 games as a pro.

Meanwhile, Jets take a pass rusher in the 1st round, and he isn't even active for his 2nd NFL game.

That had to be one of the best first rounds of talent in a long time

Other than Zach, Lance and maybe Horn, you can't really argue with any of those earlier selections. Tough year to be locked in on a QB and not picking first.

And to be fair, if we had kept Sam we'd likely have been looking at OL / WR instead of QB anyway. Highly doubt Parsons would have been on the radar (barring a trade down).

Pending Sowell or a haul to trade back would both look nice right now.

The Jets never would’ve converted Parsons from an off-ball LB into some sort of dominant edgerusher.

And Jets fans would’ve lost their sh*t over drafting a LB #2 overall instead of taking a swing on another young QB.

Though in that parallel universe we're probably posting how Sam is the worst starting QB in the league and what use is an OT if you have no QB ...

At least we'd have a tackle, instead of just the worst QB in the league

Who knows ... probably don't end up with half the team we currently have (for better or worse), possibly we're all moaning about our new GM having drafted the worst QB ever in 22 or 23. No Rodgers (though that might also not have been the worst scenario, knowing where we are now).

Parsons may be DPoTY but the Jets made life easy for him giving him 1v1 matchups against our crappy tackles. Real genius at work

Yeah sure.

Fans would be pissed to have a 1st team all Pro in Micah Parsons and rioting at 1JD for having passed on Zach Wilson.

Even if a team played Parsons exclusively as an off the ball linebacker he’d thrive in that role as well.

https://cowboyswire.usatoday.com/2022/06/28/micah-parsons-cbs-sports-no-1-linebacker-2022/#

Parsons actually finished No. 12 among linebackers in 2021 with a PFF coverage grade of 70 in 295 coverage snaps. If you go back and watch him play throughout his rookie season, you’ll not only see a talented pass-rusher, but a good linebacker that can read and react quickly. A defender who can blow up screen plays and make takedowns in the open field.”

That ability to play both linebacker and edge rusher- and do both at an exceptionally high level- was the biggest revelation of the Cowboys’ 2021 season.

Just wondering if people, both fans and media are still as usual laughing at Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy?  Under McCarthy Dallas has had a top tier offense most of his tenure and people still wanted to fire the guy every year in favor of Sean Payton

Jerry Jones gets just zero credit for multiple times assembling good to great contending rosters and making smart moves.
