Carl Lawson was invisible against Dallas, and McDonald was inactive. What am I missing here?

McDonald was our first round draft pick in this years draft.  As far as I'm concerned, 1st round draft picks need to be playing, or they are not good picks.  Yes, with the exception of QB's, who may need to be sidelined to learn.  

Lawson, on the other hand, was active, and as far as I could tell, was invisible.

As far as I'm concerned it takes the coaches and leadership in general to put the best players on the field, to give the team the best chance to win games.  

Did Lawson stand out in practice last week, and McDonald did not?  Or, is Lawson on the field because we are paying him a lot of money, and Saleh and company are afraid to make Lawson inactive, because he sucks?

While I'm at it, "Should Tippman, our 2nd round draft pick, deserve to sit on the bench?  Is our offensive line so wonderful that he can sit, and McGovern, who was signed as an afterthought, after no other team wanted him, so good that Tippman should sit, or is Tippman so bad, that he needs to sit.

In other words, our 1st and 2nd round draft picks are sitting, and for what?

I feel Saleh and his staff are just stupid the first few weeks with their draft picks. Then realize, oh sh*t, we should actually use those guys, they're pretty good. We'll see.

Haven't watched the broadcast yet, but from where I was sitting I barely saw Q in the game. Did he have any impact at all? Certainly didn't feel like it.

Lawson did a big show of flexing after a stop at one point. At least I think that was him.

On the bright side Izzy was also inactive and Tippman didn't take a snap.

There needs to be accountability at all levels this offseason. Woody needs to fire everyone from top to bottom with the exception of Boyer and  Middleton.

Cowboys neutralized him. Their offense was in a perfect rhythm. Dak was in a serious groove and playing fast mentally. Boys will be tough to beat if their offense can maintain that level.

We signed him because we needed a pass rush at the time.  I don't think he got near the quarterback, and the Jets in general couldn't get to the QB.  Again, why was McDonald inactive?  Infuriating.

Made a few tackles for a loss.  Blew up some plays.  Got held a bunch, only once that was called.  No sacks but put some pressure on.  Not his best game but far from invisible.  The edges outside of Huff just couldn't get to the QB.  IMO they were the bigger problem.

The whole team was invisible. It's just one of those games coming off a (very) emotional, short week, where the Jets were just completely outmatched. As it turns out, there was just no path to victory yesterday. It happens sometimes. As long as it doesn't repeat itself again NE, things will be fine.

Yeah I don’t get it. McDonald, based on preseason, looked ready to play from day 1. Not sure if there’s more to it behind the scenes or just sheer depth issues.

Yeah, and many people think that he will be hitting free agency next year, because we don't want to pony up the money to pay him.  

Maybe we need to extend him now, and not wait until we lose the guy in free agency?  How does that sound?

One thing that isn't getting enough coverage the Cowboys o-line got away with a ton of holding yesterday. Some big 3rd downs the replays showed our guys blatantly held and no flag.

Yeah, sadly, the season really feels like it’s teetering on the edge. The NE game will either push us upward or the house of cards comes tumbling down. Bobby better be watching film and studying till the moment the ball kicks off. Enough with being a human Stairmaster.

He has an elite skill so it would seem wise to keep those kinds guys around.

So did Izzy.  But i think saleh wants his veteran guys in there thinking they will play better under adverse circumstances.

It takes a year or two for edge rushers to make a real impact unless they are generational. Drafting jsn was a smart idea if Rodgers was not hurt, now it doesn’t matter

I don't know about that. If they're 1-5 then I'm with you.  1-2 wouldn't spell the end of the season.

Perhaps we can hire an "Intelligence Coordinator?"   You know, one that will fix the mistakes that Saleh continues to make on a weekly basis.

Or maybe we can incorporate Artificial Intelligence into the game play?  I know alot of people are afraid to lose their jobs to AI, but maybe that's what the Jets need to win more games?

Yeah I think the NFL is gonna let a lot of holding go moving forward. Keeps QBs healthy and evens out the growing disparity of league-wide talent between OL/DL. Jets need to start holding as much as possible.

They had no one else to return punts, but now they have cook and Lawson and mcgovern to play ahead of their draft picks.
