Why aren’t the Jets working out quarterbacks?

Recommended Posts

Part of me is actually starting to believe that JD and Saleh are willing to die on the ZW hill. Which is fascinating.

The other issue is that I don't think they can get anyone decent until closer to the deadline. No one wants to trade you their backup QB in week 2 or 3 without you drastically overpaying.

They have said since last year that Zach is part of their plans. They said last week that Zach is the starter now and Boyle is the backup.  They are only in the market for a PS QB.

Sounds about right.

It is downright professional negligence if the Jets don't start the process of looking for a veteran QB to bring in via free agency or a trade. If JD does not have the professional courage to admit he was wrong about Wilson it is going to cost the Jets another wasted season with a top 5 defense in place. Absolutely infuriating!

Putting aside the trade market (which I think is slim at this moment), I assume they think it's pointless bringing in a guy like EJ Perry to take up a roster spot unless they absolutely have to (ZW and Boyle both go down in a game).

Carson Wentz is a free agent.

What is the rationale here? Woody? Zach’s confidence?

at least being in Wentz for a workout and see what he looks like.

make it make sense

maybe they want to see what type of QB they need to bring in.

zach sucks next 2 weeks, bring in a real guy

zach is okay, maybe just bring a back up.

It's insanity. Besides the fact that he sucks, he's also injury-prone. They should have had started scheduling workouts the second they got confirmation on the Rodgers injury.

Yep, every time he got hit in the Cowboys game, I expected him to get hurt

Some dope on here claimed Carson Wentz was coming in today.

I was here to say “my inside source says Wentz is in the building right now”

The problem is in the mean time we are handing other teams we should beat games. Wins don't come easy in the NFL having Zach out there 3 and outing the sh*t out of possessions is not a winning formula

JD and Saleh are still trying to save face on that Zach pick 3 years in and don't want to bring in any QB who will try to play well enough to force his way into the lineup or even present a sliver of a threat to Zach. That's why. They almost certainly know he's not it at all - I don't think even they are delusional enough to believe that Austin Powers quotes from Hackett or Facetime calls with Rodgers are going to fix Zach.

Heard Rosenblatt earlier on the Athletic’s podcast say that they want Zach to show improvement and keep the job and bringing another QB in right now would be a distraction toward that process. Suggested that this upcoming Pats game would be do or die for him.

They already have two POS QBs.

I think they're slow playing and letting some things present themselves before making a move. They want to take some time to evaluate Zach in the new offense after an off season of Rodgers tutelage and see if any opportunities present themselves before the trade deadline. For example, the Vikings situation is an interesting one to monitor. I think there's a real possibility Cousins could become a trade option if they continue to lose and they have a difficult schedule. Others could pop up depending on how things go.

If Zach goes down in the mean time it's just lol who cares put Tupa in. I see no urgency to make a move right now.

It’s a numbers game.

If our starting Centre gets injured and is done for the year then we automatically need to fill that void and bring in the best available talent whilst using our backup as now starter.

In this instance our hall of fame qb gets hurt and the least you do for the rest of the team is bring in the best quality qb that you can attain.

Not to take over the starting job but simply by adding a body to fill the void of the guy who’s gone to IR.

If we had brought in someone last Tuesday they would have a week to bed in with the team and learn the playbook. It may be weeks from now they’d see the field but at least they get accumulated.

If Zach gets hurt on Sunday and is out for any reasonable time then we go searching for a qb to be the backup next week with little to no time to know his teammates.

It’s just bad management from start to finish.

It's hard to believe that the Knicks are now the best run organization of my three teams - Jets, Yanks, Knicks.

The Jets QB position is in shambles. No other team is as bad in that department as we are. Every NFL team currently is starting: 1) An established NFL veteran QB with successful seasons on their record; 2) a rookie QB with upside; or 3) a young QB in his second or third year who has shown improvement and promise up to now.

The only exception is the Arizona Cardinals. They are DESPERATELY TRYING TO LOSE and even their guy, journeyman nobody Joshua Dobbs, is putting up respectable numbers!

The Jets have a young QB who got worse and worse during his first two years and remains the worst QB in the NFL. By all logic, he should have been outright released after last year.

It's mind-boggling, insane and makes me want to bang my head against a wall.
