Ulrich
Watching condensed games weeks 1 & 2 and last night’s game. How proficient certain offenses look. Expertly constructed and implemented. Great talent deftly utilized by great offensive minds. Minds with great feel for the game. Schemes gracefully balancing the run, pass, and screen game keepin’ defenses guessing. SF, Philly, KC, Miami, Dallas. Rams & Brady Bucs before last season. Jax, Atlanta, Mayfield Bucs, and freaking Geno’s Seahawks coming on. Well-oiled machines or maybe getting there. Fun to watch. The Jets offense under Douglas & Saleh? More like a leaking rusty hulk. Above all due to Zach’s horrid quarterbacking no doubt about it. Watching the Jets you’d be forgiven if you forgot what good offensive football looks like lol. But it hasn’t just been Zach. The entire offensive operation has been rubbish. Because of it Zach has been in 2nd & 3rd long constantly his young career. Difficult succeeding that way. Joe D hasn’t procured enough talent - most notably a consistently sturdy o-line. Damning indictment after 4 full off-seasons! He finally hit on some skill players in Garrett & Breece. But that’s basically it skill wise. Mike White was brittle & had a few good games, nothing more. There’s a reason he remains a back up. Meanwhile Saleh’s OCs LaDumpsterFire & Hackett couldn’t coach themselves out of a paper bag. Okay Hackett too soon to judge. But very early returns have been troubling. So Joe D & Saleh’s offensive acumen have demonstrated significant ineptitude. They can have philosophies including drafting best available. But what happens when you never trade down and fancy o-line draftees Becton & AVT are banged up? Several dependable Fords are better than the Ferrari always in the shop. Bottom line the offensive operation from top to bottom has stunk under this regime. One wonders if Zack would’ve fared better, had he been drafted by a team that knows what it’s doing offensively? Instead of this dreck situation where he’s been mega dreck. A stark contrast how this regime’s offense has sputtered along vs. the NFL’s well run units. Look how quickly cool-guy pimp Mike McDaniel got things humming down in South Beach. Lastly I wonder what kind of success Rodgers would’ve enjoyed had he not gotten hurt (especially without Corey Davis who’s on-field presence the Jets are missing). Sometimes having your BFF Hackett as OC isn’t the best idea (and it’s not like he was ever considered some offensive genius. Especially after his Denver fiasco). There’s a reason many successful OC-QB relationships are professional connections and little more. The OC must be able to mastermind and kick ass. I had high hopes like everyone it’d work. Hopefully we’ll find out next season it does.
DireJet
Yeah, and we hired Hackett. LOL. MLF wasn’t perfect but his offense showed flashes with non-ZW QBs. He was saddled w/one of the worst QBs in league history and people ran him out of town because he wasn’t personable enough — or something. The guy was extremely creative and drew up some wild plays early on in his Jets tenure. We will regret letting him walk for Hackett. Guarantee it. 1 1
jbt
Looked ok to good at times with Mike White and Joe flacco. So when you don't have the worse starting QB in the league running it, it is functional

Zach Wilson just sucks the life out of everything, so it's hard to even gauge what Hackett would do with a real QB
Darnold Schwarzenegger
It’s an offensive league but jets keep hiring defensive coordinator’s to become head coaches. (Gase as the lone exception) Head coaches want to allocate more resources towards their coaching strength. Hence why we picked Will McDonald in the first. That was a luxury pick. Sure, next year lawson will walk as a free agent and we won’t have to draft his replacement. But we could have used an olineman or 2, or another WR for THIS year. Also Jd has whiffed multiple times on the offensive side of the ball during the draft, (Becton, Mims, Moore, Perine, Zach Wilson, etc) and his free agents have sucked too. (Uzomah, cobb, hardman, Lazard, Tomlinson, perriman etc) It’s no surprise our defense has been good and our offense consistently ranks in the bottom third of the league. derp
The talent level just isn’t there and coaching hasn’t been great either - although I think time will show that MLF will have a good coaching career. Personnel wise I think we’ll all agree they need to fix up the OL but I think an underrated area to address is that they really could use a running mate for Garrett Wilson. Best offenses have multiple passing game weapons that threaten defenses or absolute freaks at quarterback, and the Jets don’t have either. I’d love a top 5 QB but the second passing game weapon would obviously be substantially easier to find.
