Outline how you would fix this team. Woody selling is off the table. GO!

Recommended Posts

Fire everyone. Ask Steve Cohen exactly what he would do, then do the exact opposite. Draft nothing but QB and OL every single round until we hit on at least 3 OL, and 1 QB. Make Morstead a captain. Trade, release, execute Becton and Ashtyn. Your turn.

I'm not saying this is the best way, but I think it would be the easiest:

Replace Zach Wilson.

You battle through the rest of the season and TRY to get a winning record with a weak 2nd half of the schedule.  Then you dump all available assets in the OL this offseason for Rodgers next year.  That won't fix this flawed CS but at least we'd have less of a laughingstock of a team.

Unfortunately, the Zach obsessed decision makers will wait until we lose another 3 games before doing anything about it.

Tank the season for a QB. This year was over the second Rodgers limped off the field. The only hope for the future of this franchise is to land a top pick and get one of these guys coming out, there’s a lot of talent. If Rodgers wants to run it back next year that’s fine the kid can sit for a year or 2 behind him. But you need to bring in a blue chip prospect on this roster.

1. Fire Saleh. Fire Hackett too.

2. Fire JD

3. Release Zach Wilson.

4. Negotiate Rodgers retirement before 2024.

5. Proven veteran Head Coach hire.

6. Sign Kirk Cousins

7. Draft a QB with #1 pick, focus rest of draft on O-line, no defense picks in 2024.

Hate to say it but you keep Zach in, you take the foot off the pedal and you go and land a top 5 pick. To do this, you’ll likely lose the locker room, coaches and JD get fired, but once the dust settles, we once again get to take a shot at the qb. With Rodgers still under contract, you sit the qb and let him play behind rodgers for a season or two. It will result in one of the most painful seasons a jets fan could endure, but we bite the bullet and finally try to develop a qb the right way.

I hire Louis riddick as head of football operations. Anyone associated with football decisions report to him.

I hire Ryan Clark as head of player development and scouting. He is in charge of anything player/scout related and reports to riddick

The issue is that there is really no direction you can easily choose.

As a fan, if we could get Caleb then id happily lose every game, but the problem is that tanking in the NFL is REALLY difficult but even moreso with a roster like ours with 6-7 really talented guys plus  a young nucleus.  That being said if you play Zach wilson all year its possible.

The trades I would have wanted to make are also not going to work at this exact time.  Minshew is too valuable to the colts and Atlanta has won games while also having Ridder be awful so they need Heinicke.  Same with the Redskins - they probably wouldnt want to part with Brissest after going 2-1.  So does Colt McCoy getting us to 8 wins instead of Zach getting us to 4 really make a difference?

The issue is can you keep the nucleus believing in the organization if you keep sending zach out there?  10 or so guys wont be here even if we got Caleb and its tough to keep everyone engaged if you arent being competitive.

So in short - really tough spot for us right now.

I like the idea but I think there would be a mutiny if it's another disaster of a season.  Guys like GW, Breece, etc would start demanding trades.  Would Caleb Williams refuse to play here and demand to be traded?

The crazy thing is that we might end up facing such a scenario anyway - lol.

Clearly Wilson has to go.

Gotta get a real OC. I don't know who that is but this unimaginative offense gotta go. Defenses just tee off on us.

Hire someone who can identify OL talent coming out of college. JD seems to have a mental block in this regard.

Steal BB (scumbag) book on how to identify players that will be washed up in a year or 2 and stop signing these shot free agents.

Beg, plead, offer your first born to the football gods to hit on a QB in the draft.

Long-term

- Fire Douglas and Saleh

- Give Aaron Rodgers (nor any other HOF QB for that matter, FFS) NO say whatsoever in picking their replacements; if Rodgers has any issue with that, negotiate his retirement or trade him

- Draft Quinn Ewers in the first round. Resist the temptation (and the insistence from Rodgers) to use that pick on a OL/WR

- Use all other available resources to fix the o-line.  Create money by cutting Tomlinson, Uzomah, Mosley in order to do so.

Nania over at  X Factor posted video upon video of open receivers that Zach either didn't see or just missed.  While I do agree his play calling to hide Zach has been stupid, I don't think Hackett is the big problem here...

Won’t go too into detail, but I have a customer that is from where he is from. Knows the family. Knows caleb. Has his number and texts him a few times a year he said. Caleb Williams comes from money and is making a ton more money in college. It’s very important to his parents that he gets his college degree. Whatever his parents tell him to do, he does according to him. Unless it’s the absolute perfect spot for him to go at 1, he’ll stay, at least that’s what I was told. Take that for what it’s worth…

so yea, the jets likely land the first pick and Caleb Williams stays in school lol.

I mean it’s not like he’s going to the Chiefs Eagles or Pats. His options will be Chicago Arizona Jets teams like that lol

Time Machine back to lose the meaningless games we were supposed to and take Trevor Lawrence.

without that, call Nick Foles.

everyone says bench Zach but there is literally no one out there at this time of the season.  I’m not gonna ignore the good things Salah and JD have done. They got AR, when he went down it was over. I get the ZW backup strategy, talented kid you have to pay $10 mill to no matter what.  Everything went to sh*t. Firing everybody isn’t going to fix anything. 2023 is f’d.

Hackett's play calling was extremely predictable.  Romo kept saying the Jets should pass on 1st down to mix things up and give ZW an advantage.  Hackett kept running the ball.  And if he was going to run the ball, where in the world was Jeremy Ruckert again?  1 snap?!

I think the other thing that we're forgetting is that JD didn't know what AR's contract was going to be so he had to save money when it came to signing a 3rd QB.  On top of that, a guy like Gardner Minshew was far less likely to want to sign here when he knew the PT would all go to AR8.

Been thinking about this and it’s unfortunate. All these guys might get fired because of the QB. It’s the risk you run drafting a QB high.

Subject to Change:

1) I would keep the FO and CS

2) I would use all FA money on the OL

3) I would sign a backup QB like Teddy 2 Gloves

4) I would draft a QB in round 1 with the understanding that he will not play for at least 1 year. Maybe 2.

These are the major decisions I would make

No doubt zach is reason numero uno the offense blows but they also showed they can put together a decent drive with him.

I'm not quite ready to let Hackett off the hook.

Zach stinks.

Also bill belichick is a scumbag.

I guess all i'm saying is the play calling was likely due to fear about Wilson making a mistake rather than something directly related to Hackett being a crap OC.  I don't think he calls anything close to the same game with a more reliable QB under center...

It’s an ok plan.  It would’ve been a great plan in February 2023 lol

There is no easy fix.  Here is my 2 cents.

1.  Open up the offense- You can't run into a 9 man line and you can't pass with 9 men close enough to blitz.  Bring in a blocking back to pick up blitzes.  By an extra second or two to throw the ball.  Burn the stacked line by hitting Wilson on crossing patterns against single safety.

2.  Go up tempo, even hurry up - Zach looked good in that set 7-0 despite 2 drops and a TD.  Don't allow defense to substitute personnel.  Use Hardman to open up the defense.

3.  Make better use of Ruckert in running situations,  Then give the rock to Breece at least 20 times.  Cook is nowhere near as fast, as illusive and doesn't break tackles.  Whenever the line is not stacked, run the ball.

4.  On defense, put Sauce or DJ on the best receiver, wherever he goes.  Letting teams avoid both by moving their game breaker #1 to the slot is moronic.  Use Bryce Huff more on passing downs.

5. For goodness sake, stop calling timeout with less than two minutes when the other team is trying to score and running out of time.

6. Sign a legit QB yesterday.  It takes at least two weeks for a QB to learn enough of the offense to be of value, so get on it ASAP, so we have a better option by game 6 if Zach doesn't improve.

YOU CAN'T PLAY NOT TO LOSE.  Give Zach decent protection and open the offense.  Go up-tempo.  If Zach flops, be ready to move on to a capable back-up by game 6.
