It's player-speak, but he's saying the right things.  Criticizing Zach really accomplishes nothing other than probably take Zach's 0.00000001% confidence level and drop it down to a clean 0.00.  He can't say "yeah we need to bring in someone else".  So, he encourages positivity.  It's pretty much the only take that makes sense, at least from him.

Encouraging positivity is the only thing that makes sense?  It's a competitive sport,  compete or get out of the way.

Except it doesn't.

Why is the last shred of ZachiePoo's confidence even a consideration? He's not going to get better, ever, and he clearly can't play worse. He's a dead end. 

If the people around Zach really care about him, they'll talk to him about considering a different career entirely. It's the best thing for his physical and mental health. Period.
