Stop acting surprised

Recommended Posts

Why are so many fans acting surprised about the obvious outcome? The pattern has already been established for Zach WIlson and the minute Rodgers went down (yes indeed @Barry McCockinner, yes indeed), the season was over (with its current roster).

We just need to accept the fact that the 2023 NY Jets will not be a competitive team and that you should re-establish your priorities for this fall/winter.  Maybe some of you need to actually spend more quality time with your families, or even better; take care of yourself, mind and body.

This team will continue this pattern unless we clean house again.  If you think that the Rodgers 2024 is going to be better, think again. Rodgers brought some washed up garbage and having these turds back in 24 will only hamper the youth movement,  The bottom line is that the NY Jets need to bring a long-term QB solution while transitioning Rodgers into a leadership/coaching position.  Heck, he has to be an upgrade over Hackett at the present moment.

In the meantime, let's stop acting like this wasn't happening. The writing on the wall was always there, we just needed to  accept the reality before the season began.

The first game of the season is hogwash; the true colors normally start showing thereafter.

Eh, the Jets defense always owns Josh Allen.

Oh shoot.  You're telling me when the guy who was supposed to be our savior went down, we were screwed???  Get out of town!

The media overreaction is hilarious! They had so much expectations from Zach Wilson.

Jeff Saturday actually had a reasonable take I thought.  Basically just said sometimes sh*t happens.  Said back when they had Manning, they were one of the best offenses in the league and a perennial playoff team.  They lost Manning for the season in 2011 and they won 2 games, drafted Andrew Luck.  Sometimes your QB goes down and you are just ****ed.  You can make a trade to fix it, or you can embrace the suckage and come back next year having added a top draft pick.  Maybe that's what we need to do.

Granted we haven't had the Colts success pre-Manning injury, but still.  I don't think just accepting this for what it is would be the worst thing in the world, as opposed to getting bent over by Minnesota in an attempt to salvage the season.  Maybe this is how we fix the Zach mistake?  I don't know, but I feel like I've gone through all the phases of grief.  Shock, anger, confusion, hope, despair, numbness.  Now it's just acceptance.....this is what we are.  It's unfortunate, but it is what it is.

Get the draft pick, take the right QB, fill whatever holes you have left in the offseason and make sure your HOF QB stays on the ******* field next year.

I do not trust this current organization selecting and developing a future QB.  I think that this is an objective point of view, the annals speak for themselves.

Every team gets it wrong a bunch before they get it right, unless you're the Packers or maybe the Pats.  If this is a new Becton and he can stay on the field, that means this regime has missed on one first rounder to this point.  That one was the biggest one, but still just one.  I'm willing to give JD another swing.  I have zero confidence in him getting the right guy, but to be honest I'll have zero confidence in ANY GM we bring in to get the right guy, until I see said right guy playing at a Pro Bowl level in a Jets jersey.  I have more faith in JD than any previous GM we've had in my lifetime though, which is something at least.

IF this is a tank year...or a "retool" or whatever palatable way you want to spin it, the absolute #1 priority needs to be scouting these draft eligible QBs.  There is zero room for error.  Bring in whatever super-scout, QB-whisperer you can find if you have to.  I don't care, but whiffing on this pick is a death sentence.  I'd make it known to Joe, I don't give a **** if we win the Super Bowl in 2024 and 2025 with Rodgers.  As long as that pick busts, you're gone.  Don't **** it up.  If Maye is the only guy you're sure on, but we have to trade up to get him, ******* do it.  Pay the price to get the guy that you believe will pan out.  Don't settle for your 2nd or 3rd best option, like in 2021.  We missed on Lawrence...oops.  I guess we have to take Zach.  No.  Get your ******* guy.

I tend to agree. If we are at a level of suctitude great enough to be in a position to grab one of the top tier QB's in 2024,  Saleh can't be here....

Who is acting surprised?  Not many.

The bad surprise is an all world defense that cannot overcome poor Qbing and carry the team.

We have a poor QB but a 'stacked' talented team should be able to overcome that to some extent.  Some bad QBs have been carried before by great teams.

The season was toast after snap #4 of the Bills game.

Why do you say that?

Zach Wilson led Jets have beat Buffalo now 2 or the past three meetings.

I think it's more the Jets seem to have Allen figured out --- but point is Jets would have a very good chance of beating them again.

Shouldn't you be making another thread about what great shape Becton is in?
