So everybody can blast Wilson for being a horrible QB, from broadcasters to commentators to fans. But if Namath says what is clear to everybody and speaks for the entire fanbase and former players that this is unacceptable, he's out of line?  Russo is just wrong.  There  is no justification for what we watched on Sunday. None.  Namath said what needed to be said and he said it as the spokesperson and ambassador for the Jets outside of One Jets Drive.  Woody, JD and Saleh needed to hear what he said.  Enough is enough.  The Jets have done what Russo asked. They let Wilson play and play and play.  It's getting worse with every start.  Nobody wants to see #2 take one more snap for this team.  Why is that so hard for anyone to understand?

Its a bad look for Jets Organization having everyone bash the kid. Think of how tough this is... They sold hard on Aaron... Its already a terrible look... Compounding the problem by having former players bash the kid and organization 3 games into a season they were expecting to have a 4 time HOF QB... Criticism is needed and necessary... bashing the kid like eveyone is doing is a horrible look and not helping anything... it only hurts the organization more and allows all the other fanbases to pile on....

They haven't been good for a very long time... but every year the fanbase attacks its own and just becomes easier and easier to become the victims, ooo whoa is me... this sucks... The fanbase has never helped or else we would see a better product because we are one of the most vicious fanbases to its own players... Again who does this help...

Joe gave very constructive criticism on how to fix it.   Bench Zach, clean house and make changes.

The organization up until Rodgers went down position on Zach was pretty simple.  We still have faith in him to lead us in the future.  He needs a reset and they clearly wanted him to sit all year.  

Where the organization blew it was once Rodgers got hurt they completely abandoned the plan for Zach.  Zach was thrown into the fire.  He's clearly not ready to play NFL football.  He's getting ridiculed by the media and the fan base for his obvious inability to play right now.  Saleh is lying to the media, the fan base and the locker room.

Namath just stated the obvious about Zach.  He didn't bash him.  He actually bashed the organization.  Zach is being scapegoated by the organization and it's a very ugly look.   This is having a negative impact on the team and on Zach.  If they really believe Zach has the potential in the future and is an assett to the team they wouldn't treat the assett as badly as they are.  They are wrecking both the team and any futue Zach may have.

I'm not saying Zach has a future.  I'm saying if he did, than Douglas and Saleh are insuiring that he doesn't.

Not a big Russo fan but I always thought he had more of the fan’s perspective than Francessa.  The thing is the players read the papers and listen to espn and idiots like Stephen A and others.  These guys are just in it to get viewers.  Namath too. He’s been pretty irrelevant and he was right there on the bandwagon when they signed Rodgers so his rant is more about Rodgers going down than how the team is now. I thought the one good point he did make was how long it should take to learn an offense. He said something like Zach had the playbook since March so there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be making plays.  But maybe this can be turned around and said that Hackett hasn’t figured out what plays Zach is good at and he needs to start calling plays that his players can execute.

 To me sundays game was all about ball control and protecting the ball. So the game plan was heavy run and a few passes. It was only when they started to really pass that any semblance of a sustained drive was seen.  So, imo, this isn’t all about Zach. It’s also about putting him where he can succeed. Isn’t that what coaches are supposed to do?

 As for cleaning house, Namath should be the first guy who knows what happens.  He had to play under Charlie Winner and Lou Holtz after Weeb stepped down.  And Weeb was in the middle of dismantling the Super Bowl team. How’d that work out?  And then he was traded to the Rams where he lasted about four games before being replaced by Pat Haden ( I think).

Some decent points.  I think too many people talk about Zach not being an NFL qb but the fact is he is.  Bubby Brister was an NFL qb, so was Dan Orlovsky. Zach is in a pressure cooker of a media market and does have some attributes that make him below average but some of that is also on the coaches for not sending in plays he can execute.

 As for saleh not scapegoating Zach I think that’s more about him telling the players they need to play better too.  On Sunday I counted four passes in the receivers hand that were dropped.  And let’s not forget the td that the patsies got as well as a number of first down runs by Elliot.  The defense played well but they also gave up a few third and long plays.

 Also, we hear guys like Cimini and other talking heads about the locker room but no players are named. Just who are these guys? I don’t buy all the love and kumbaya feelings the players say during their interviews but without actually being in that lock room it’s hard to know what’s actually going on.

This is classic Cimini taking one or two shots he saw on the sidelines and turning into a click/bait story. I don't doubt there are some rumblings and I would be pretty sure every team has them even those that are 3-0 right now.

I have said for years I don't understand how the org let's this guy be a beat reporter when he truly wants to see this team fail and create drama.

I certainly do not want a homer like Buttle as that is the other extreme but you can get guys to do their job objectively and not spew this nonsense.

I've been a huge defender of Zach as a potential QB.  What was absolutely clear on Sunday was he's complete lack of feel for the NFL game.  He shouldn't be playing.  He's not ready.  

Everyone knows it including Saleh and JD.  Saleh shouldn't allow Zach on the field.  If Zach has any future at all Saleh playing him is destroying him.

I don't blame that loss on Zach.  I blame it on the HC and the coaching staff.  

And FYI Zeke is much better than Dalvin Cook.  Zeke at least runs hard and can block for the QB.  Cook is useless at a much higher cost.   Just another reason JD can go F himself.  

The only reason Zach is playing is the NY Jets Owner, GM and HC want him to.  He would not be playing on any other NFL team.  He would be lucky to be on a practice squad.

Namath has been 100% supportive of this franchise forever. Simply calling them like he and everyone with eyeballs sees things.

This is a fair take.  Frustrated fans taking out their anger on Wilson at this stage is pointless.  Everyone from Woody on down, including Wilson himself, knows he can't play.  The system, not having a Plan B for a potential loss of Rodgers, is the major culprit here and that starts and stops with Douglas...

That's really what Joe said.  He's probably got a paid spot and as a former player and a fan of the team, gave a rather unemotional real take.  Joe didn't seem really nuts at all.  He was calm, smiling and told it how he saw it.

joe is a fan just like us although I would argue not just like us as he played for the team and brought the only title-he is not getting any younger and he spoke exactly what most here think. I am on team Joe (Namath) not Douglass

Respectfully disagree.  The only reason Zach is playing is because the GM rolled the dice in the offseason and gambled that Rodgers would remain upright the whole season.  He is a repeat offender doing the same thing with Becton last year coming off knee surgery and scrambling to overpay for a washed Duane Brown.

Yes.  It's not like this earns him any more in game checks, helps extend his career, or gives me a boost mentally or in the media.
