HOPE for ZACH and the JETS on Sunday

Let him play the full playbook. Let him run it from the shotgun, let him roll out. Don't tell him he has to stay in the pocket and throw to the flat. Let him go down field, throw the long ball. Keep the defense honest. We brought him in because he was an electric player in college and now suddenly we are trying to make him an in pocket check down charlie. He ran roll out, he can go down field, he can do big things. We paid Mecole now let that invisible man run the deep fade route.

Pharaoh brown had 70+ yards and a td against the jets last week. And he is their 3rd stringer. Kelce is going to have a field day. Jets have never been able to stop the tight end. I’d say let sauce shadow kelce all game but we all know saleh won’t deviate from his system.

I do agree that chiefs wrs aren’t anything special. But it won’t matter when ZW goes 3 and out 9 times in a row. Mahomes is so good I still think they drop 40 on us

If im I am Zach  i go into full Renegade Hulk mode ... **** Saleh and his pussy approach to the offense ... throw the ball downfield to GW every chance i get. Garrett and everyone else is clamoring about his unstoppable ability to get open.  **** it ... throw it to him all dam game long ... every chance you get.   Who gives a sh*t if its 3 and 12 as usually after run, run on first and second down.  **** it ... Bomb it to GW and Mecole (if that guy even exists) .. an int there would be the same or better than a punt. Wait 2.7 seconds .. chuck it downfield as far as you can.

^^^ Follow this plan for a 5 INT game.

Just direct snap to the RBs every play and call it a day.

I’ve been saying this half seriously but there’s a case to be made that having Breece Hall play wildcat QB with Cook and/or Izzy back there gives us the best chance to win. It’s a plan where the options are limited but you’re not stuck with a Wilson or Boyle.

Izzy? Saleh won’t even activate him. They brought in Cook when they already had a RB to cut or deactivate every week. Cook will first have to look terrible for another 5 weeks before Saleh sits him down & activates the rookie.

They had a scenario with 4 young + cheap backs. The best rationalization was in case Hall wasn’t ready to play a decent number of snaps right away, and meanwhile Cook was the one who wasn’t in game shape to start out. Just stupid.

They’re stuck with Wilson and Boyle. If they were even considering such a course of action they’d have signed or traded for another start-able QB by now.

3) Our defense can stop KC, for the most part. Their WRs are weak, but they have the best TE in the world. Double team him. Make one of their other WRs beat us. Sauce and Reed can handle them. Our defense can stop KC. Their offense is not as good as years past. This is actually a good matchup for our defense, if we take Kelce out of the game.

I'm just commenting because of this statement. Nowhere in your 'hopeful' assessment do you mention Patrick Mahomes. I'm 55 years old, been watching football for as long as I can remember. I'm outside the age of people who saw Jim Brown play; you know them, they're always saying how dominant he was, like a whole different level of player. That's Mahomes. I've seen amazing players in my time, true greats (Sanders, Marino, Montana, Peterson, Dickerson, Brady etc). The only player (offensively) I've ever seen in that time capable of utterly dominating a game consistently, Brown-esque if you will, was Jerry Rice. And it took an equally talented generational player (Deion) to slow him. Mahomes is the same; a true generational player we should enjoy having the privilege to see with our own two eyes.  He's the best player in the league, and it's not even close.

dude, 100%.  I said it last week, get creative in the run game.  Use Jet sweeps, run reverses, direct snaps, sweeps w/ an option to pass, flea flickers, do anything other then trotting Zach Wilson out there and expecting him to execute an NFL game plan.  You cant tailor make anything for this kid.  He has zero strengths.  There is nothing to point at and say, he does this well.   This idea that he "throw well on the run" is some bizarre sh*t.  He one of the worst QB's I've seen try to create and throw on the run.   No huddle?  He's awful from no huddle.  Shotgun?  Under Center.  It doesnt matter.

There is hope. The odds are stacked against him and the Jets losing Sunday and Zach being replaced by Trevor Siemian is the likely outcome, but here is how we can win on Sunday and the season can somehow be salvaged:

1) Running the ball is not going to work. Everyone knows that is our game plan. Do something different, let Zach air it out. What do we have to lose? He has a great arm and we have good WRs. Try it! It will help the run game, if we can be successful throwing it down the field a few times.

2) Play hurry up, from the gun. It worked on the one drive on Sunday. We have the talent on offense to make the plays. Maybe less time Zach thinking would be helpful.

4) Get our speed guys involved in the offense. Hardman and Gipson need to be involved in the offense. I love GW, but I think the Chiefs see him as our only threat downfield.

5) Is RPO completely off the table with this offense? Zach has the speed and our RBs are able. Why not give them a different look? At least for a couple of plays.

6) Need to see at least 4-5 roll outs with Zach out of the pocket, where he has the option to throw it long or dump it off or run. This has been a successful play for Zach and getting him out of the pocket HAS to be a priority, with our offensive line still not good.

Maybe I am expecting too much from Hackett and obviously Zach, but he really needs to look at the player he has in Zach, and design the offense around him. Running the ball and play action is what everyone is expecting. We need to change it up. It's our only chance and seriously, what do we have to lose. Everyone expects a blowout.

Ok, I got as far as air it out. What is wrong with all of you. Let Zach pass and pass deep? Fo you realize Zachs biggest issue right now is finally not short range accuracy, it is be holds the ball too long so your plan is to have Zach sit in the pocket long enough for WR's to get deep? Really? Zach needs to get the ball out on a 3 step drop. As soon as his foot hits that 3rd step he has to plant and throw. If he holds it longer, he is doing the headless chicken dance.

Kelce is no slouch either, even if the entire defense knows the ball is going to him they still can’t stop him. But yeah, your right,

I mean obviously I don’t think this is a realistic scenario that might happen lol.

I’m saying throwing it at the Chiefs as a total surprise might give us a better chance to win that letting Zach suck again.

Why is it so hard for some of you to just accept the fact that Zach Wilson is not an NFL QB? Do you not watch NFL games other than the Jets?

It's not the o-line.

It's not the WRs.

It's not the coaching.

It's not because some force is causing the football to be repelled from the receivers hands.

It's not because the opposition employed a wizard who cast a spell causing the field to tilt slightly, always against Zach.

It's not because the sun had a personal vendetta against him, shining exclusively in his eyes during critical plays.

It's not because the moon's gravitational pull was unusually strong, affecting only his throws.

It's because Zach Wilson cannot play QB at the NFL level. Stop twisting yourself into pretzels trying to come up with reasons he's secretly good. He's just not.

Yup, no argument there. I was commenting as an overall perspective, not just the Jets.😎

From the latter viewpoint (and flying in the face of the OP's), this defense is a bad match. It's predicated on covering WRs, pressuring the QB with fronts, and stopping the run. KC's offense relies on their smart, athletic QB getting the ball to the aforementioned awesome TE. Historically, both tend to give this franchise fits on defense. So.....😖

Great post. Let's start out in a hurry up - it essentially manufactures more time for him to see receivers. Air it out - way better than running into a brick wall. Loosen things up. Just don't do the same damn thing and try not to make mistakes. They should tell Zach to LIMIT the mistakes, so he isn't afraid to go downfield in the first three quarters. Nothing to lose at this point - what they've been doing doesn't work.

So 9 points by Jets offense not enough maybe?
