Your wish list for the rest of the season?

Mine ..

1. I never want to see Zach play QB for the Jets again.  I refuse to watch until this happens.  I’m fine with a trade for peanuts or an outright release (the cap money is lost already)

2. I want several underperforming vets benched.  Tomlinson, McGovern, Uzomah, Cobb, Lawson

3. Play guys who seem to care and bring some fire.  Get guys like Ruckert onto the field … Duh, you ducking idiots 

4. This isn’t happening … but how about some chess?  Sauce on Kelce for starters

5. I never want to hear ‘that’s not our scheme again’

6. Develop our young guys .. Tippmann, McDonald, Izzy, Gipson

7. Play loose to win.  Throw the kitchen sink:  trick plays, creativity

8. Beat the Pats, Broncos, and Dolphins

The fact I have little to no confidence in any of these shows how little faith I have in Saleh, which will lead to new wish at season’s end.

See Tippmann solidify his spot, if he hasn't already(he has, IMO)

See Ruckert move up the depth chart and get significant playing time

See McDonald get significant playing time(my guess is they are trying to showcase Huff, want him racking up sacks so they can sell high.  Hasn't worked according to plan to this point)

See if JJ can take that next step as a premiere 3-down edge

See what we have in Gipson and Brownlee at the WR position.  Hopefully a veteran QB can run this offense efficiently enough to the point where we can actually get a good read on them.

See a legitimate QB show enough to the point where Garrett can take that next step, and things open up for Breece to put up numbers on the ground as well.

See if one of Carter or Izzy can show enough this year to make us feel confident about our 1-2 punch at RB next year

Find out what we truly have with Adams and Sherwood on defense

 

Obviously I want to win, and I still want this team/will hold out hope for them making the playoffs, but aside from that, the above things are what I'd be aiming to see this year.

See Saleh take a college coaching gig.  He's not an NFL HC.  He needs to go and he's a nice guy.  I would prefer him leave on his own terms.  I actually appreciate him gaslighting the team, fan base and media about Zach.  I didn't think Saleh was nuanced enough to take this subtle a shot at Woody for making him play Zach.

2. Trade or release Cook and Cobb.  They serve no meaningful purpose here anymore and only serve to steal reps from younger players who might still have futures in this league.  Wilson/Lazard/Hardman/Gipson get the bulk of the reps going forward.

3. Tell Rodgers we're no longer interested in his return in 2024, and encourage him to either retire (with settlement) or find a team willing to take him off our hands.  We're never going to get what we paid for in him, and this Org. needs to stop looking for desperation hail-mary short-cut solutions at QB.

4. Bench Uzomah, start Ruckert for the rest of this season.

5. Bench Lawson, start McDonald for the rest of this season.

6. Bench any over-30 O-lineman for the rest of the season, play the youngsters with remaining contract years/franchise tag options only.

7. At seasons end, I relieve JD and Saleh (and his staff) of their duties.  Their record shows who and what they are.  JD's few hits, in a sea of failures, does not impress me.

8. Hire an experienced GM with a track record of previous success at the NFL level.  No rookie GM's.

9. Hire an experienced Head Coach with a track record of previous success at the NFL level.  No rookie Head Coaches (or Coordinators).  prospective Coaches MUST have a winning record in the NFL, or they need not apply.  Preference for an Offensive-minded candidate.

10. As soon as is feasible, cut Siemian and Boyle, sign two of the best available young, untested prospects sitting out there on someone's Practice Squad.  We know what Sim and Boyle are, and they have no future here.

Note:  This is NOT a "tank for another USC QB" plan.  This is a pivot to a hopefully brighter future plan.  The record will be what it will be.  Tanking is unacceptable, as all it does is instill a perennial losers mentally, a mentality this franchise must move on from at this point.  Tanking is just another form of hail-mary desperation short-cut.

Even if the Jets couldn't get a QB like Brissett or Minshew because it's too early in the season and nobody is giving up yet, I would love to see them add some mid round QB who was picked this year or last year and is just sitting on the bench for some team.

 

I don't even know who that guy would be and I'd already rather watch him than Zach Wilson lol.

i agreed with everything except this.  what would your plan at QB be?  if we're going young, the team would most likely end up top 3 in the draft.  obvious spot to grab a QB, right?  wouldn't it be smart to finally do the right thing, draft a qb and have him sit behind AR for 1-2 years?

• I draft or sign another young QB to be my #3, another prospect (NOT another JAG Veteran a la Boyle or Sim or the like).

I do NOT give into Fans, my drafted QB sits for one year no matter what.  Period, not negotiable, not debating it, it is what it is, period.

And related, I focus my efforts in the remaining draft and free agency to sort the O-line, and likely replace Mosely at LB.  WR might be a thing too, potentially, depending on what I see from Gipson this year.

Hopefully, the team would then be in a spot going into 2025 to compete and be in the postseason.  But I draft another QB in 2025 to replace my one-year Veteran placeholder guy, and ride forward with three young prospects, no Veterans to temp my Head Coach with.

Sorry, I'm clearly very superstitious, and the Jets luck with USC QB's is horrendous.  Not signing up for round 3 of Jets+ Hyped Up USC QB.

I think USC runs a college version of what the 9ers run. A very QB friendly sustem. I have watched Williams though and he looks great. It’s  hard to say he isn’t  the best prospect. I would be all over Nix though. I know a lot of people like Sanders but I'm not sold on him.

Huff is the Jets best pass rusher and it’s not even close. He’s getting very limited run but has the best pass rush push of any of the rushers. If anything, Lawson can hit the bricks so Huff can get more run.

Huff is gone next year unless he's much cheaper than we expect to keep.  After just taking JJ and McDonald with 1st round picks, I'll be surprised if he's back, even if we want him.  He'll go somewhere he can be a top guy and most likely get paid like one.
