Coaches play scared when they believe they are coaching for their job. Bowles was the best example, kicking fgs to keep the score close instead of trying to win games but risk turnovers and a more lobsided score. That’s where saleh is now. 5

Popular Post Warfish
"Let him rip", the newest Zach excuse. If only the Jets "let Zach be Zach" (oh, wait, that was a previous catchphrase to excuse Zach failures, lol) then he'd be good. Same old, same old. Some folks are simply incapable of admitting they were wrong. On the bright side, if we ever did "let him rip", he'd likely set the NFL record for Interceptions, and maybe, just maybe, the Zach Truthers might finally see the light..... 6 1 1

Popular Post Bobby816
He does stink. But still let him rip. We're the most boring team to watch in the NFL yet again bc we don't have any creativity or take any shots down field. 8

ACourseinMiracles
If nothing else it may increase the entertainment value. I don't think it changes any outcomes but it may be more interesting watching a few scramble bombs a game. 3

Popular Post Larz
Romo said the sane thing. there are defensive coaches that understand offense like Tomlin and belicheat and there are defensive guys who want to win with defense like Bowles and Saleh. you don’t grow a guy’s confidence by running all the time especially in crucial situations I’m not saying Zach is Mahomes with bad coaching I’m saying he’s not getting help from his coach wanting to win with defense and setting him up to throw on third down under pressure 5
Popular Post Pac
He's not wrong. At this point let him go out in a blaze of mfing glory. If this is going to be his last game as a starting QB then unload everything he's got. They're not winning anyway. 8 1

BigRy56
They do need to let him play with a little less structure, but with that said... how many times has somebody been open down the field and Zach doesn't throw it to them? Quite often. The only thing the Jets need to do is get Wilson out of there, which will happen in due time once Siemian is ready to go

When they’re handed a guy like darnold or wilson, who are prone to turnovers without the big time plays to offset them, they essentially neuter them. Same with Rex and sanchez. I do think that the team will need a new identity after the season and saleh and his staff along with wilson are gone.

Beerfish
He is not wrong totally. Once you ingrain the check down into a QB it is hard to get him out of it. We are better served trying to rip than be conservative though. The problem we have is we have a crappy oline that cannot hold blocks and we have no WRs other than one great one.
hawk
Only one way to find out. At worst, it opens up the run game. No defense coordinator is going to prepare against the pass as our threat. They will put the whole defense in the box until the Jets open it up with any success.
JoeNamathsFurCoat
He thinks the coaches are telling him to bypass wide open WRs downfield? Or to take 10 seconds to make a decision with the football? Or to check down to the fat slow TE on 4th and 10 in a do or die situation? Sorry but Wilson is clueless and just flat out sucks. 3

extmenace
He’s not wrong. Maybe Zach isn’t good, but saleh and this coaching staff has turned an athletically gifted qb with some great tools into someone who is afraid to throw the ball. Who will not trust his instincts. I don’t believe this kid can be salvaged but they have to try something different. I’ve mentioned this in a couple of other threads, the jets and Zach Wilson pairing is at the end of the road. For Zach it’s do or die. Take the hand cuffs off, open the playbook up, and let him be reckless. Let him take the deep shots. Let him use his athleticism. Let him play the QB position. Worse case, he throws 3-4-5 ints and is terrible and we lose the game. Best case, we attack a defense in a way they didn’t prepare for and we get into a slug fest with one of the NFLs best team. If this team plays offense the way we’ve been seeing it to this point, we are going to lose anyways. We aren’t beating the chiefs in a 13-10 kind of game. If there was ever a time for them to just say F it, this is the week. There is absolutely nothing to lose. 2

There is literally no way to justify keeping him out there other than him playing the qb position well. The playing not to lose mentality with this kid gives this offense zero upside. We have weapons, the way they are holding Zach back makes our weapons useless. He sucks, but maybe he just will kind of suck if they let him play.

Last time they let him rip he threw 3 picks against the Cowboys in garbage time. I get why they choose not to. A tad bit easier to boo picks than 3-and-outs.
