The Official Zach Wilson Sympathy Thread...

Recommended Posts

I kind of view it with some empathy since I have a son in his early thirties and if it were my son, I would be breaking.

Put aside the performance and part if the issue is he is a bit unlkeable which he brought on himself and his mom does not help.

if this is not going to work and 99% it won’t, then stop putting him out there and let him move on

I’d be talking long-term investments and real estate property nowhere near the greater New York region.

I thought it was painful watching Richard Todd (ReTodd!)…then post 1987 Ken O’Brien…then Browning Nagle…then Glen Foley…then Mark Sanchez…then Geno Smith…then Sam Darnold…but no…

I realize now that I’ve never felt true pain until I saw Zach Wilson play.

I don’t think some people realize just how bad this guy is.

It's Saleh/JD who are stringing him on.  They should be blamed for all of the flak Zach will get.  Zach has shown what he is, how he cannot play up to the level desired of an NFL QB, yet they continue to play him and put him through the ringer time and time again.  It's like continueing to send your child to football practice even though he comes home bruised up and crying every day.  It's sad.

I'm sure Sam Darnold and all the other QB busts are perfectly fine now serving as a backup somewhere.  That should be Zach right now.

Agreed.  If the plan truly was to give Zach a season or two to reset and learn behind AR, then they needed a real back-up.  But imo, they should have cut ties with him and moved on.  The situation the team and Zach are in now falls squarely on the shoulders of the GM who did not bring in a real QB2.

There is plenty of blame to go around.

I blame ZW for not pursuing tennis or golf or basically anything other than football.

None of this would have happened.

We’d have, at a minimum, Penei Sewell or Jamar Chase or Micah Parsons instead of a complete bust.

He could still do the Jets a solid by retiring to save them the dead money, but he won’t.

He blames everyone but himself and the Jets as an organization top-down have fostered this environment where they want him to be immune to criticism.

One of the talking Head ex-players (Might have been Ryan Clark) said, "It's clear Zach DOESN'T want to be on the field. He was happy being the backup". I'll try to find the clip. He compared Zach to Kids on HS and College teams he had known that liked being on the team, practiced hard, liked their teammates, but had no desire play in games. Zach liked just being another guy,  the backup QB. No pressure, no spotlight.

I feel a little bad for him. Being subject to public shame and ridicule for failure takes its toll I’m sure.

That said he’s pocketed what like 40 million? He’ll probably marry some hot blonde Mormon and coach football for the rest of his days. He doesn’t have it so bad.

He isnt the first athlete to fail miserably and get rich doing it.

I feel no sorrow for him.

To win against KC he needs to go 30 for 40 4TDs 0 ints.

JD is like the Mayor from Jaws. no matter how many people the Shark eats he still wants the beachs open.

no matter how bad Zach is he still wants him as QB.

and Saleh is like Chief Brody who has to do whatever he can to keep the people safe but is handicapped by the beaches still being open.

Saleh has to do whatever he can but is handicapped by being forced to start Zach Wilson.

we need to hired someone to get rid of the Shark.

I'm actually now feeling sorry for the guy...

And I've been just as guilty as most of us by piling on him...

It is almost unbelievable how the circumstances have played out to maximize the pressure on him...

And how the scene has been set for his ultimate embarrassment and humiliation...

The players disrespect and snipe at him behind his back...

The media has made him the butt of jokes...

The fans boo him and want him gone...

The legendary team icon has even chimed in to ridicule him...

The spotlight of national TV...

Against the best QB in Patrick Mahomes and the defending SB champs...

And the added attention of Taylor Swift and her fans thrown in for extra heat...

From the grizzled and celebrated vet in Rodgers, who craved the spotlight...

To this seemingly in-over-his-head kid,, who looks like he should be prepping for his HS homecoming game...

Tomorrow night, he's going to feel like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders...

I'm pulling for him to succeed...

Agreed...

Some people on this forum just suck at life and have no empathy... ******* pathetic and you leave a sh*t stain on this fanbase...

Wtf is wrong with you people

I'm not sure I feel bad for him but the whole world does seem to be overly enjoying his struggles for whatever reason.  I mean if Mahomes or Joe Burrow went down and the backup struggled there is no way it would be the lead story on every sports show.  It would be understandable.  Getting pissed at ZW for not playing good would be the equivalent of getting pissed at my dog for not being able to file my tax returns.  The likelihood of either  of these things occurring are about the same.

Should have more sympathy for Sam Darnold …. He had a team full of practice squad players and coaches by Adam Gase …. Never had a chance here. If he was here we would be a top team in the league with playing average or better

I feel the same
