ThunderbirdJet
This whole Sandman thing is so ridiculous, it really says a lot about MLB. I won't even get into the fact that Wagner was using it before the Yankees di for Rivera..... when this beomes the lead story on NY sports radio, it just reinforces what i've believed for quite a while now. The game itself, means squat. It's all about everything but the game. it a f'n joke. Baseball is a f'n joke.
Maxman
This whole Sandman thing is so ridiculous, it really says a lot about MLB. I won't even get into the fact that Wagner was using it before the Yankees di for Rivera..... I keep reading this and I don't think it is true. Rivera started using it in 1997. Someone in another thread said Wagner was using it 3 years before Rivera. That is definitely not true. Wagner's 1st season in the majors was 1996. He had 9 saves that year. So I have a hard time believing he walked into enter sandman as a rookie. In 1997 he has 6 blown saves and 8 losses. It was a real good year for him. He had over 100 strikeouts. But with only 23 saves did he start using Enter Sandman that year? Seems premature. My point is I am fairly certain that the Yankees played it 1st. But it doesn't matter. There is only one Sandman. No matter how many people play the song.
Matt39
I must admit, with all this hoopla surronding this "enter sandman" thing, it was pretty funny wathing a kid hit his first big league HR off of Wagner to tie it up in the 9th.
