Zach Wilson had more passing yards, fewer turnovers, and a higher QBR than Mahomes

Recommended Posts

For those focusing on the fumble - it was obviously terrible, but he’s never really been a big fumbler and every QB will drop a snap from time to time. I’m not worried about it.

His issues have always been:

1) not being able to read/see the field and deliver an accurate ball on time

2) panicking under the duress of an NFL pass rush (running backwards, throwing across his body, etc.,)

we saw him largely correct 1 and 2 for a night in a big spot. I’m just wondering if it was a fluke -

Was this a total fluke or something to build on?

Josh Allen playing as bad as he did vs jets and now mohomes definitely a fluke. I always wondered why Zach couldn’t even have 1 fluke of a game. He finally got 1. Let’s see if he can go 4 out of 5. Otherwise if it’s just 1 for every 10,25, he won’t last long.

It’s like I’ve been saying for years:

Some day people will say Mahomes is a poor man’s Zach Wilson

Some day lol.  It was nice to see Zach start playing tonight.  This is more like what I expected this season.  It’s been a rough go, but if Zach can build on this it changes everything for the Jets.

The problem is we keep getting suckered in and he lays an egg. Hopefully this is a major step in the right direction.

Season’s not over..but it will be if the Jets lose to a bad Broncos team. Confident Jets would beat them..at home, but in mile high I’m not so sure.

Obviously..ZW can’t take a step back after his solid performance tonight.
Beat Denver..probably then lose to the Eagles… but then Jets can potentially run off wins against a series of weak opponents.

this one still stings, but at least we have a shot now if this was a turning point for ZW

I’m glad the staff came together and decided that holding him back by asking him to be ultra conservative isn’t the right approach. Credit to Hack, Downing, and Aaron for convincing Saleh to let Zach be more aggressive, and credit to Saleh for buying into their plan in such a big game. That was not the case in the past

At the very least, Zach put some incredible plays on tape tonight and won a lot of people over with his heart and maturity. It’s a microcosm of what the Jets see in him and why they refuse to give up on him. He’s going to have some more good games and there will certainly be some bad as well, but they’re going to let him play through it.

It is literally the first time ever that they used a modern offense with Zach and not the ultra conservative nonsense It was so obvious that their philosophy was completely wrong for Zach. Pretty amazing thing actually. If Zach had laid an egg it might have been his last start in the NFL now he seems to have a real shot.

It was an encouraging game and turnaround for Wilson but lets see him string a bunch of games in a row before we go down the road of Zach turning the corner. At the very least he makes next weeks game exciting rather than looking forward to 10... 3 and outs

We’ll see. 1st quarter was atrocious and contributed to the loss. Fumble was on him and helped seal the loss. He had one amazing drive, best of his career to-date, but couldn’t replicate it or sustain other drives. Still missed open guys, not seeing them, regularly. Several passes for easy TD’s off target. Etc.

It was a better game. A flash, we’ve seen them before, albeit rarely. We’ll just have to see if he can build on it vs Denver, then vs, the Eagles etc If Denver is a typical poop show, then it really was just a “flash.”

But at least it was something positive. First time in a long time.

What was encouraging to me, was he came out looking like Zach Wilson.  Holding the ball, not throwing it to wide ass open receivers.  My assumption on the one where he threw it late when both Wilson and Hall were wide as open immediately for a first down, is they went to the sideline and gave him the business.  Just throw the F'ing ball Zach.  The plays are there, have been all season, poor Lazard cant imagine the season he'd be having w/ Rodgers but...they must have got in his ass and told him to just grab your little hairless balls and throw the ******* ball.  Looks like he did just that after that bozo play.

Still, lots of missed opportunities, lot of missed shots, lots of missed placed ball and ultimately, got away with one on a should a been pick, then back breaking fumble...all stuff that happens through the course of a game but the more concerning result is the Jets forced multiple turnovers and still only put up 18pts in a game where they basically had the ball just as long as the Chiefs (till they clocked it at the end).  So, in the best game of Zach's career, the offense scored 18pts.

While an extremely encouraging performance from what looked like a player who was done in this league, there is still at sh*t ton to be desired from Zach.

Zach was really good last night.  The fumble was a killer.  The other killer was the insistence to rotate Cook in for Hall on critical offensive snaps against a team we needed more points against.

Finish games before you put the scrubs in.

interesting point. are these fluke bad games by 2 of the best QBs or is our defense better than people think instead of worst. i know the defense isnt allowed to make a mistake or 2 but they played pretty good.

Zach out played Mahomes and if you don't see that your hate for Zach is blinding you.

And that game was stolen from the jets by the refs.

He played great until he fumbled the game away. And then he never got the ball back. He literally fumbled the game to the Chiefs.

Zach was running Aaron Rodgers offense last night - and he did good! Zach has the potential to run this offense better than Rodgers because he is more mobile at this point in his career. Rodgers might be Zach's back-up next season.

Zero percent Aaron Rodgers backs up Zach Wilson if he’s healthy. Lunacy.

I need to see consistency for the rest of the season.  I think some people might underestimate the power of Aaron Rodgers.  Is it coincidence that Rodgers is back and Zach is playing better?

I am banging the table for Aaron Rodgers to remain with this organization at a coaching level. I even started a thread about it, but it was taken down by politics.

It’s amazing that Mahomes fumbled and it bounced right back to him and he gets a first down. Then he throws a pick at crunch time and gets bailed out by the refs. Zach deserved better the way he played last night.
