Things the Jets must do Moving Forward

The Jets must feature Breece Hall every game moving forward. Cook is a disaster as is MC . Admit it was a mistake just like they did with James Robinson and get Izzy in the mix and make Cook inactive. Izzy's speed could very well make a difference.

The Jets need to continue to let Zach loose. If he's a gun slinger then let him be a damn gun slinger and continue to build his confidence. 

Saleh needs to grow some balls. That Field goal on 4th and 1 when this offense was on such a roll was a terrible call in so many ways. He can not coach like that moving forward. If this was the game you were to unleash the QB why on earth not send that message to the entire world ?

The Jets Defense always seems to get beat early throw in a wrinkle to get other teams off balance early. Maybe go man defense with our corners rather than giving up TD's to scripted offenses designed to beat our zone. This Defense seems to get better and better as the game goes on figure out a way to mix things up early .

I'd like to hear someone argue how - through the first month of games - he's looked any better than Bam Knight.

They have one RB averaging 6.6 ypc and another averaging 2.6 ypc, and inexplicably they have the same # of carries week after week. 

I mean, I get a swap here & there if they're running Hall into the ground and he needs a breather. When the guy gets 6 carries how can anybody justify that other than literally the play or two after he sprints 40-50 yards.

Cook is horrible. It's like they're waiting for that magical carry when the hole is big enough for him (or any RB in the league) to run 20-40 yards with it, to justify the other 30-40 carries where the downs were outright wasted on handoffs to Cook. 

Trade him to Buffalo or Cleveland, lol. I don't care if we play them coming up. All the better, frankly.

Anyone know if the reason Izzy has been inactive is because of that injury he suffered in pre-season?  If he's healthy, there's absolutely no excuse for Dalvin Cook to be in the lineup over him.  This feels like one of these very obvious things where the running game will look much improved the moment Izzy gets on the field.  Sort of like how the OL improved with Tippman in there (and the injured Duane Brown out).

What bothered me most about MC was him barking at a coach last week, then dropping a big catch during this game.

Problem is, no way the jets make cook inactive although they should... he either gets injured or they sit Carter to get izzy in there... really need to get the playmakers in there...also, we really need to do a better job stopping the run on first down.. teams are in 2nd and short way too often

which scares me is if when Brown comes back if they put him out there. they shouldnt but Cook shouldnt be there either. there giving vets with big contracts playing time that dont deserve it over rookies that should get a shot.

Hall needs to get more touches. He should be getting close to 15 a game. He was 6/56 while Cook was 5/16. It's unacceptable.

We are on the verge of beating the Super Bowl Champions Kansas City Chiefs and Cook was out there on first down and second down.  

Cook hits the hole like he is on a walker.

Cook is out there cause they promised him playing time and gave him 8 million dollars.  This coaching staff falls in love w/ these vets they sign and for some reason feels loyalty to play them.

And it is hurting this team.

Cook is still a threat to break one and I think he will. But so far he’s been disappointing.

Breece is an every down back like Jonathan Taylor he needs to be featured in this offense and only taken out to get a rest here and there maybe for a few plays . I'm not sure how much his knee is a factor like some have mentioned but he needs to be in the 20 + touch range .  15 runs and 5 receptions is not putting too much pressure and if you happen to be running the ball very well in a particular game more touches can go to the other guys at that stage.

Constant substitutions works on defense because every player has a job to do basically on their own, however on offense the QB needs to get used to his WR's TE and RB and what they do in various situations it makes it much harder when you are constantly rotating players. 

If Zach looks like he's finally starting to "get It" a good dose of Breece Hall can only start to help him as he starts to rely more and more on him when nothing is open.

this feels like zeke vs pollard last season. pollard was the better rb by a mile but zeke kept getting more snaps.

More getting Gipson involved in the offense, he did well with his few touches (but needs to secure the ball a bit better).

Also good to see Ruckert get some decent targets. TE position in general was more heavily featured than before, and produced as a result.

And keep feeding it to GW!

D needs to get back to some basics on tackling - far too many plays where the first tackler got run through as he was trying to arm tackle or go for the big shot and missed.

But overall a far more positive outing even if the result was against us.

I want to see a lot more of the younger guys. Very encouraged to see Ruckert and Gipson in the lineup and producing. Tippmann as part of the “best five,” has also gone well. Last year, I definitely felt that Tomlinson and McGovern were the weaker links than Brown and if Brown comes back, I hope it’s one of them who sits. Conklin and Uzomah have fully guaranteed salaries this year and nothing guaranteed next year, Ruckert should be worked into the starting lineup, asap, so one or both of those guys can be let go next year. 
 
RB is a young man’s position, and Cook is not young by RB standards. Zach’s performance last night was at least encouraging, but he needs game breakers around him. Breece breaks off another long run as one of six carries, and Cook has the same load? Stupid, plain and simple. The sooner they move Cook down the depth chart, the better. Increase Hall’s load by at least 50% and give the rest to Izzy. 
 
I think these guys know what they’re doing defensively, but I still want to see more McDonald. Like the TE situation, Lawson and Huff will be a free agents at the end of the year and JFM will be looking at his first large (non-guaranteed) salary in 2024. Developing McDonald should be a priority. It should be noted that Johnson was only on the field 27% of the time last year but that this year he’s the #2 DL in snaps behind QW. Clemons’ snaps are up, too. I expect McDonald to get there, but I’d really like to start seeing it.

Mostly agree.  I think what they also need is another deep threat. Right now it’s Wilson. Lazard? Conklin?  Not really.  That guy Gipson looked pretty good on the few plays he was in.  Losing Davis was bigger than initially thought.  And no telling what Hardman is doing.

1.  Breece 15+ touches per game

2. Gipson instead of Cobb as full-time slot

3.  Give Izzy a chance.  I’d move him up to #3 and if he can pass protect, bump him up to #2.  Cook and Carter are JAG level at this point.

4.  More snaps for Huff

5.  More willingness to blitz, especially when it’s clear the 4-man rush isn’t working
