Jorge Posada is Trash

this ****ing guy was done 2 yrs ago.

I have to change the channel when Whore-Hey is up the guy is just brutal at the plate.

That had to be the worst AB so far in the season. 3 hittable pitches and he swung at 1? F'n pathetic. I really started to not like him last year and I thought maybe he had an off year but you can see early on this year that he is really ****ing done.

I expect the BIG STEIN to go get Victor Martinez for a player to be named later and a box of baseballs.

Oh & Bernie Williams is done....Bernie & posada are a lot like Mo Lewis and Mavin Jones. Painful to watch.

Hey Hey Hey there Smizz. Bern Baby Bern aint done yet. I'd take Bernie's bat over Posada's anyday.

Bernie will hit 15-20 HR's this year for us. He's going to generate more offense this year then last year as the DH, mark my words.

Except Mo and Marvin retired aeons ago, and Bernie and Whore-Hey (that was mine before it was yours) are still clinging to scraps.

In typical anti-climactic Yankee fandom, a TON of energy and attention was given to Bernie during last season, culminating in several extended bouts of "Bern-ie Will-iams clap, clap, clap/clap/clap" chants...only to have Bernie back again for YET ANOTHER dreadful year of watching him p!ss on his legacy. BORING!!!!

Bernie just took a fastball down main street for a called strike 3. He can't field and Id rather have Reuben Sierra @ DH then Berine who will out of gas come June.

They both suck dead dolphin dick.

Cleveland's gonna be in the hunt for the division and/or the wildcard this year.

No way they are trading Martinez.

You guys would be more apt to go after someone like a Mike Matheny

We have felt that way about your posts for a long time. But we just deal with it because you were great a long time ago. So until you decide to call it quits, we will just sit back and remember how things used to be.

You were a Champion. As was Jorge. You don't tell a Champion when it is time to go. He decides on his own!

you guys gotta stop bein so down on Jorge. Its the beggining of the season we still have many games to play he could go back to all start form this year. Even if his stats arent that great hes still the best defensive catcher in the league especially when it comes to throwing runner out. Noone steals against us.

i'd say its the exact opposite

he's a good offensive catcher but rather poor on defense

Whore-Hey posada sucks, but trust me he's not the worst Jorge in New York.

Julio? Yeah, he is tough to watch. I wonder what changed from a few years ago, when he was the closer in Baltimore, and quite decent for a short while. Last year, he looked AFRAID to throw the ball to home plate. Just afraid.

Basically, the Mets dumped Benson. They wanted to just get rid of him (read that - of the Mrs.). But they received back, way less then equal value.

Agree, Julio used to be a very decent bullpen option.

METS should have sent Benson to LA for Sanchez who looks great and kept Seo.

Posada can still hit. He is no longer the RBI machine he was, or the OBP guy he was just a couple of seasons ago. But he probably is better then whatever was out there this off-season.

The Yankee catching situation is weak in the Minors, right now. At least in the upper levels. David Parrish, a 1st round pick, did not inherit any of his Father's skills, at least not the catching skills. He is OK, at best, defensively, but a woeful hitter, and that's being charitable. He was most unworthy of even a 20th round pick, let alone a #1. The best hope on the upper levels is the guy in teh Bronx now, Wil Nieves. He is not young, and not the greatest hitter either. But he has had decent averages in teh Minors, and has some pop. He is an above-average receiver, from what I've read on him, and the little I have seen him in the Minors.

At the lower levels, there is hope. But the 2 guys I have in mind are still at the A level, so there is nothing even remotely guaranteed. Irwin Rojas can Catch in the Majors right now. The 21 year old Rojas has an above-average arm, and is very good around the plate. His bat is OK. He has limited power, but a good eye, and a decent OBP for a Catcher. This season is a key one for him, as he needs to show a bit more at the plate to become a serious prospect. He should start out in High A Ball (Tampa).

The other prospect is a teenager who was in the GCL last season. Gill is the last name. He was signed out of Latin America a couple of years ago, as a teenager. He still is a teen, and should be in Charleston (lower A level at some point this season. He can hit, also has limited power, but is still filing out. He has a rocket arm, per the scouting reports, and is OK defensively. But he is 3-4 years away, IMO.

If Irwin Rojas does not take a major step forward this season, I can see the Yankees bringing in another vet next season, one who is capable of giving them a 2-3 year span as a starter, as Jorge undoubtedly enters his last season in 2007. At least, his last as a regular, highly paid catcher, in Yankee - land.

Problem for Posada and Williams is that both act like it still 1996 and that the Yankees' then-novel idea of making pitchers throw stirkes was novel then; now it's not. And especially to a smart team like the A's or Angels. Want to take a strike-here's strike 1. Nobody's scared of their power; they don't have any. So why not start them off with a strike? But both act like they don't eevn know that every pitcher they face know their MO.

Posada just aged 4 months while I typed this sentence. There may be another hitter that lets more hittable strikes go by him early in the count, but I haven't seen that guy. But he gives plenty of sour looks to umpires, and since he catches 4 of every 5 days, that's a big help.

no way do you see how many runners he throws out or how noone steals on us. No pitches ever get by him either.
Lets take a look at last years stats and see how stupid you look afterwards. Jorge Posada:

Stolen Bases allowed: 90. Third most in the league. Only Victor Martinez and Jason Kendall allowed more.

Passed balls: 8. The second most in the league tied with Toby Hall, Yadier Molina, and Humberto Cota. Only Benjie Molina had more.

CERA: 5th worst in the league.

He picks off about 3 of every 10 baserunners, he's nowhere near the best when it comes to defense and he certainly doesn't call the best games.

Dribbler by Castillo and Sheffield striking out with a guy on 3rd is the game; it happens. That they were able to get to Rivera in any game started by Wright against Santana is an achievement."Must win" in April is a joke, but tomorrow is game they really need.

and who exactly have you played? 3 AWFUL teams and toronto (who killed your pitching) and you're scoring about 3 runs a game.

The yankees have played 2 good western teams and the twins who have great pitching. aside from schilling and beckett who are injuries waiting to happen your pitching has been AWFUL. sure the yankees are having some trouble hitting but at least we have the hitters to get it done over the long haul. your lineup is MUCH weaker then last year and just like last year the yankees will be in first place when it matters: the last day of the season.

If Boston's hitting is its biggest concern, the AL East race is already over. Or have you not been watching Boston's juggernaut of an offense for the past 5 years?

That juggernaut offense is gone my friend. Boston has been having alot of troble scoring this year. and between that and their AWFUL 3 4 and 5 starters and top 2 injury prone starters, it's far from their only problem.
