I don't disagree, but I would feel better about this if McDonald was contributing something.

At least EDGE rusher is a premium position and worth a shot.

Quality slot receivers go undrafted all the time.

And he just got cut in my fantasy money league (no one will be picking him up).

Oof.

Everyone who said we should draft this slot receiver extraordinaire with our 1st round pick should feel bad about that.

I love the advanced stats like this.  Good stuff.  Is this available on Pro Football Reference or what do you use for that?  I enjoy doing deeper dives on players like this

Hes at Defcon 6.  He had the same amount of catches as DK Metcalf last night.

JSN is a stud.  Are we trying to argue he isnt to make us feel better that we drafted will mcdonald?

Same amount of catches at DK, but DK also had 10x the amount of yards and a TD

Eh, they run different routes.  No big deal.  The seahwaks completed 15 passes last night.

Why is this  a thread on this board?

Because so many people were calling to draft him and he's had 62 yards of receiving over 4 games, and his catch % is lower than his QB's completion %. He's accounted for 7% total receiving yards and people are still calling him a stud and saying "We shoulda drafted him"

1) Will McDonald doing nothing so far does not make JSN the correct pick by default.

2) EDGE rusher doing nothing early in his career >>>> slot receiver doing nothing early in his career.  One in is a premium position.  The other is not.

I think Jetsfan80 was just making a point, that it's beyond dumb to say things like "terrible pick; we could have had this kid who could help now" when in reality the guys listed as "help now" players haven't done a damn thing.

Not surprising that they get defensive and list McDonald's stats through 3 games, proving they've learned nothing.  Draft the guy you think will be the best player.  Simple as that.  Oh, and don't judge their bust status based on 3 games.  That's also a good start.  You had people questioning whether Tippmann was a bust before the first preseason game even happened ffs.

One might offer that he "hasn't done a thing" because he's behind two all-pro level stud WR's.  And was injured in preseason.

He would not be behind two stud all-pro level WR's in NY, he'd be behind one very very good WR in G. Wilson.

Circumstances matter.

For example, if McDonald had gone somewhere else, he may be starting and have more than 1 tackle on his resume so far this year.

I think position and need and what else is available and when in a draft factors in too, but generally, I agree.

Agreed.  Fun to keep track of, but not long-term meaningful this early.

It's bad look for a GM when all your draft picks are sitting the first few games.  Doesn't mean they won't be good eventually, of course.
