His contract for 2024/2025 would be reasonable for us. He’d give our offense flexibility. We can then move GW around to exploit mismatches. GW can play the slot. I fear you are right about what he might look like next year, but there is no realistic chance he is retiring, IMO. His ego is too big and there is too much spotlight on him. Frankly, considering the price of the 5th year option and the franchise tag I feel much better about him playing tackle than guard. Guard is also much easier to fill with a mid-level FA or 2nd/3rd day pick. Of course, Douglas has tried that and failed, so time will tell. If they eat a decent amount of the salary it might be possible if someone believes it is the stacked box killing him and not him sucking. Real issue is that Miami was the other team "in" on him and I can't see making that deal and besides, they seem like they would have no use for him now anyway.
