Tee Higgins

Thoughts on us making a move for him?

Thought there was no way CIN would trade him since we all thought they’d be contenders. But they haven’t been playing good at all. They’ve without blatantly saying it, have eluded to them not paying Higgins. Because they don’t want to tie up so much money in Burrow, Chase and Higgins. So since they’re not contenders likely. I can see them trading him for the right price.

He’d make sense for us since we only have 3 WRs under contract next year in GW, Lazard and Gipson. So trade and pay the man. We’re a win now team next year. We have cap. Rodgers I’m sure would love adding him. He’s still only 24.

Jets have 1st and 2nd tied up with Rodgers. It'll likely be a 2, but you can't trade those picks until the Rodgers compensation is determined.

You can build a contingency into a trade. i.e.

2023 first - if they Jets don't lose the first to GB

or - if Rodgers plays...

2023 second and 2024 second

Not saying that's what it would be - but a trade can be made.

Huge WR draft next year, too.

If Becton and AVT can solidify the OT spots, there's really no reason to not take a WR in the 1st round next year.  Only real need would be Mosley's replacement which probably would have options in 3rd round.

The Jets have $34M in cap space next year - without a draft class or starters at multiple positions (at least one tackle spot, whatever OL spot AVT isn’t playing, safety, DT) included in that figure - and lack a second round pick.

Money is tight without Higgins, you make it work if you can, but I also don’t think they have assets to make a trade.

Future assets start to dry up when the GM makes a push in consecutive years. It’s extra hard to look at when there’s nothing to show for it.
