It’s Saleh. He’s Holding the Bloody Knife

Don't forget that when the Jets hired Saleh they were just trying to recover from the disaster that was Adam Gase, probably as "offensive-minded" as you could get. There would be a lot more backlash if JD just went and hired another OC to be the head coach.

Looking at how he turned around the defense that was probably a better choice. But at this point it's clear he doesn't have the tools to be a competent HC on the offensive side of the ball.

I'm done with Saleh(even in knowing he'll be back in 24').....

Woody has an archetype for his HC hires......A DC from a well-performing defense that won't cost him much but will be a "leader of men"

The only Offensive hire(as disastrous as it was) came when Woody was across the pond and Chris was doing most of the leg work.....

The Johnsons love living in insanity....all these years picking the same archetype of coach yet expecting(or just trying to sell us) better results.....

The whole "race to 20" comment from Saleh is at the top of a list of things that irk me about him.....like most of the DCs we've hired at HC....they're egotistical about "their defense" and think we can win by not turning the ball over and doing just enough on offense......

It's insane to think that wins games in 2023 where the rules are skewed to generate offense

But, none of this is true.  lol   His first draft they took QB and OL w/ the first 2 picks.  His 2nd draft, they took WR in the top 10 and RB in the 2nd round.  This draft, he took OL w/ 2 of the top 3 picks.

And missed on Broderick Jones due to the pick swap with the Packers.  AAAaargh!!!!

For his shell of a team due to his corpse of an offense. Joe D is his co-conspirator and is accountable. Buck stops at his desk. He hired Saleh so his ass is on the line.

But it’s Saleh’s defensive background which has short-circuited and permeated the franchise.

Most visibly in roster construction. Instead of an offensive-minded head coach getting his binkie skill players - we have Saleh’s binkie “we come at you in waves” d-line. At the expense of critical positions like o-line and WRs.

How’s that approach worked out for him?

His team has been one of the NFL’s worst the past 3 seasons. A defensively one-sided s—t show of a team.

I won’t even mention his ghastly OC hires.

______________

Had Joe D been wiser he’d of hired, let’s say, an offensive version of Saleh (since he clearly liked his demeanor). A promising leader of men who’d construct a kick-ass offense. Keeping his fingers crossed his hire would add a capable DC.

But he went with Saleh whose presence has been kryptonite to assembling even a serviceable offense.

JD needs to be first 1 to go. I’m Convinced if he hired a O guru he wouldn’t be able to think for himself either and maybe the team would be just the opposite, ALL O and no D lol. It’s JDs fault if he is simply giving more attention to the D because that is what Saleh wants. Need a gm with a backbone.

Do not pretend money and draft picks have not been spent on the O Line.

1st rounder, Becton.   1st rounder (and 2 3rds in a trade up) for AVT.    Premium contract given to left guard from 49ers.   2nd rounder on center.  The fact is, those guys have been hurt or under performed, but it isn't due to Saleh saying, "Don't spend money on the O Line"

WR, used a #10 pick on a WR, gave 44 million to WR #3, had WR #2 suddenly retire.   Spent money on 2 different tight ends.

It isn't on Saleh that he said, "Don't spend money or picks on the offense."

It’s JD who forces the worst qb in NFL on jets. His pride is more important than winning.

The great head coach and football philosopher Bill Parcells always stated that one of the primary things quarterbacks are judged by is how often they get their teams into the end zone.

Wilson has five TD passes in 308 passing attempts in eight starts this season, and Giants undrafted rookie Tommy DeVito, who made his first NFL start Sunday at Dallas, has three TD passes in 56 attempts.

This tired sh*t again?

The O has sucked, but we are going to act like it is a failure to put resources to the O?  Becton, Mims, Wilson, AVT, Wilson, Hall, Tippman all 1st and 2nd day picks.  Two of them on trade ups.  Check the contracts. The O probably gets more than the D, particular when you consider two of the biggest expenditures are on Maccagnan guys in Quinnen and Mosley.  OTOH, you knew this and are just looking for a new lane to stir the same sh*t.

1st and 2nd round picks SHOULD be contributors.

How has the offensive coaching been in the past say... 20 years? Who have they developed? Who are the Bryce Huff and the Quincy Williams of the offense right now? Which QB have our offensive personnel identified and developed?

No one. Because we can't bring offensive coaching talent worth a damn to work under a 1st time head coach with a defensive background. Why would they? The top offensive minds in the sport get head coaching positions. They don't work for Milquetoast Bobby.

It's an offense league. We have a top 3 defense and a bottom 3 offense. Does anyone on this board believe that if we had a top 3 offense, we'd be 4-5? We would be better. Much better. And more fun to watch to boot.

It's not just about draft picks. It's about coaching ability.

The Jets biggest weakness was QB. They traded for Aaron F'n Rodgers.

The Jets biggest weakness on the OL was C. They drafted Tippman in the 2nd.

Ok dude. If you think center was our biggest weakness on OL you clearly are blind. McGovern was playing there, starting there. JD has been horrible at getting “ quality “ in the starting OL, and his bench guys are not quality for the bench. But in your book being one of the worst OL in NFL yr in, year out is just “ bad luck “ lol
