We should have never made the AVT trade

AVT is a good guard with arms too short to be what we need in a tackle.

The right move was to kept the pick and draft Darrisaw our selves.

There were plenty of quality players that we could have taken with

our threes. I am not suggesting that we would have hit a home run

with both of our thirds but Darrisaw a potential; franchise LT and any

of the following players was the way to go-

Alim McNeil

Milton Williams

Odighisua

Malcom Koonce

Josh Palmer

Nico Collins

Quinn Meinerz

Baron Browning

Amon- Ra St. br0wn

At the time the Jets picked a new Franchise QB and did not have a LG after the Greg Van Roten fiasco.  GVR had a great time blocking for the Raiders in their win.

The Jets wanted Joe Staley, who the SB champ KC Chiefs paid a ton a money to.  So LG because a premium position.  So AVT made sense there.  There were no other Gs in that draft.

If JD was scouting correctly, in retrospect, he is taking Wirfs at Darrishaw, either where AVT was picked or 23.   I think if the Jets stood at 23 the Vikings were trading up.

But we can’t judge the pick until we let AVT play G and stop making him play T.

The Jets were not going to get Darrisaw if they kept their pick. The Vikings would have taken him ahead of the Jets. But yeah, it was a stupid, stupid trade.

Yes.  Trading up in the first round for a Guard will always be a bad idea.  He better end up being a HOFer - otherwise you can find plenty of Guard talent later in the draft - or heck - even the few places further down and keep your other pick.

That is some emotional fragility to be upset by an emoticon. It's gonna be ok.

Your response to my post on AVT has been limited to emoticons and your silly unrelated slight. Still waiting for you to tell us why you consider the talented but extremely unreliable AVT a successful pick. Happy Thanksgiving!

Except for Morgan Moses (whom he should have signed to a multi-year deal), Joe Douglas’ moves on the OL have all turned out to be atrocious.

I agree giving up 2 3rds to move up for an OG was ridiculous, especially considering the opportunity cost of some of the names you listed.
