PFSIKH
can't be long now. It would go down as the dumbest move of Georgie's career. In order for Joe to be canned, the Yankees must be majorly under achieving. Like last year, but worse. They must be incredibly far behind Boston. I can not think of one hard ass that is good enough to motivate this crew. I think the only way it works is if the Yankees name someone that is untouchable. The only person that is untouchable and can command respect is.....Jeter.
NJ
I will trade you Torre for Baker. Even throw in a prospect. And we'll take Wendell Kim out of mothballs and throw him in to cinch the deal if necessary.

faba
Torre will regret making the committment to stay if this keeps up. Yankees will score runs - only a matter of time-
Maxman
It would go down as the dumbest move of Georgie's career. Sweet Lou is the Manager of the Yankees next season. If the Yankees don't win it all, it will be time for a change. If they win it all Joe will retire, saying he wants to go out a winner. Either way it is Lou in 2007. Jet/BosoxFan
Geez...you would think Torre was the guy striking out all the time, leaving a small village on the basepaths, and killing rallies before they even start and not ANTI-CLUTCH, ALOOF, ACCURSED MVP ALEXANDER THE GREAT. Can you say $252 million trade bait. There is not a team in baseball that would take A-rod off your hands EVEN IF YOU WANTED TO GIVE HIM AWAY!!! Bugg
It's early. But why they decided to get all sentimental over Posada when Bengie Molina was a bargain basement FA and why they won't put Matsui at 3 and Sheffield at 6 are symptoms of a bigger problem;decisions are being made based on the egoes and contracts of players rather than whether it's good baseball. Yankees haven't won a damn thing since 2000. Spare us the syrupy crap and do what's best for the team. Instead it looks like with their contracts the Yanks are stuck with 3 old dead weight guys(Whore Hay, Sheff and Williams) who make serious cash(though less so for Williams). I don't know if Pineilla would do much to change that since those were organizational offseason decisions.
JetsMan57
Bringing back Bernie was mindless. His shoulders are shot and he cant even get his bat through the zone fast enough to catch up with a fast ball. I was all for signing Piazza to be the full time DH. Piazza well rested will give you very respectable numbers and you can even throw him a bone and make him catch once a week.... A friend of mine ran into Piazza in the offseason and Piazza told him he really wanted to come to the Yankees. THat was confirmed by his agent contacting the Yankees willing to pretty much hand Piazza over to us for a bag of shells... O well. Posada must have naked pictures of important people in the Yankee org. because the rumor was the Yankees didnt want to part with Jorge at the deadline for Randy Johnson in 2004 and Jason Kendall could have been had off the waiver wire. 7 years of watching this guy swing at balls in the dirt, and doing very little in the post season (spare me that miracle blooper against Pedro in game 7) was enough for me. Sheff would have been the first one run out of town after that Angel series. I tried to put up with his selfish crap, but the final straw for me was when he let that blooper bounce 2 inches in front of him in game 5 last year and didnt even attempt to dive. Pathetic. O'Neil would have caught that ball with his mouth if he had too. The offense proved 2 postseasons in a row that it cant come through in big spots and it should have been broken down in the offseason. Its a feast or famine offense, and in the postseason all we have gotten is famine. Randy Johnson looks good though so far... thats a big positive. Jetsfan80
didn't the REd Sox just try to aquire the same player and same large contract just 2 years ago? owned pz. 2 years ago, A-Rod was the class of baseball, who just didn't "have the talent around him". Now, he's overrated, the antithesis of "clutch", and pretty much sub-par defensively at his current position (remember "E-Rod"?). The Red Sox, and the rest of baseball, wouldn't be caught dead trying to acquire him now. Good try though.
