Pathetic Jets Offense Flops With Tim Boyle Versus ‘Phins in 34-13 Loss

Recommended Posts

Swapping out Zach Wilson for Tim Boyle didn’t do much to help the still-pathetic Jets offense get anything going against the Miami Dolphins at MetLife Stadium.  Gang Green’s defense did all it could, including scoring the Jets only touchdown prior to garbage time, but it wasn’t enough.

And the @nyjets get on the board the only way they can get on the board. Big play from Brandin Echols with a pick six.

Mentioned Echols playing well against the Bills last week too. Nice stretch for him with MCII out. pic.twitter.com/rwKCXc3GL6

With Wilson watching from the sidelines and Boyle playing quarterback, the Jets didn’t get past mid-filed until under twelve minutes remained in the game and didn’t manage to find the end zone until a garbage time touchdown pass from Boyle to Garrett Wilson with  less than five minutes remaining in the game.

Tim Boyle would finish the game 27-38 for 179 yards with a touchdown pass and a pair of interceptions.

It looked as if the Jets might be able to build some momentum before the half when DJ Reed intercepted a Tua Tagovaiola pass immediately after the Echols score but that wasn’t to be as disaster struck just moments later.  With only two seconds left in the half, Boyle dropped back to heave up a Hail Mary that was intercepted and returned 99 yards for a touchdown by Dolphins defensive back Jevon Holland.  That made it 17-6 and essentially ended the game.

The Jets, as has become the norm under Paul Hackett’s son Nathaniel, didn’t convert a single third down until a garbage time drive in the fourth quarter.  On that drive, the Jets looked competent for a brief moment, running 17 plays that got them deep in Miami territory.  However, the drive ended abruptly when a Boyle pass to Breece Hall was tipped and intercepted.

Tim Boyle would throw a touchdown pass to Garrett Wilson with only a few minutes left in the game and finished 27-38 for 179 yards with a touchdown pass and a pair of interceptions.

Now faced with the reality that their playoff hopes are down the drain (that was really the case last week), the Jets now have to play out the string.  Six games remain in a season that will have fans watching the team’s draft position closer than the scoreboard.
