Joe Douglas the one who should be on hot seat as blunders are at root of Jets’ mess

Imagine following the jets and thinking that woody will do anything to jeopardize Rodgers being happy and coming back next year.

the only possible scenario is letting Rodgers pick his GM and head coach but how do you even bring that up without possible blow back of epic proportions if he legitimately supports JD and Saleh?

this is a very very unique situation given Rodgers age and contract

I can’t fathom rodgers being pro JD. Rodgers can’t be impressed with his ability to build an offensive line, Offense in general. Couldn’t have left a great  impression picking a DL for depth with first round pick, knowing the O had lot of holes

The Rodgers situation was deliberately done in a manner to ensure job security for JD, which was clear from the very moment it was made, and is the only reason he'll keep the job for one more year.  He has however, been mostly horrific at his job and is undoubtedly this team's biggest problem, so no one else should go until him.

Meanwhile, watching the Jags/Texans game and seeing that with guys like Fatukasi and Cashman starting for other teams, it's a fun reminder that even our old incompetent friend Maccagnan did a better job with late round/value picks of his own terrible drafts.

Rodgers has all the power here...

Woody is obviously smitten with him...

Rodgers appears to like pointing fingers for failure at everyone but himself...

He must be itching to throw JD and Saleh under the bus...

Might as well go all in at this point and let him pick "his" guys...

It can't be any worse than it already is......

It's doubtful Rodgers will want either of them to go, given he's rather dependent on them to keep a number of his buddies employed in the NFL, both players and coaches.

Why do people think Rodgers has some affinity for Douglas and Saleh? His options were go back to the Packers (maybe not an option) play for the Jets, or retire.

I honestly think he doesn’t give a damn about Douglas or Saleh. Maybe he angles to keep Saleh to keep the defense in tact, but Rodgers is watching the same mess that we all have to.

100 percent correct he has bums at starting positions which is affecting the team and no capable back ups and he wont get rid of them knowing he has to rid the team of them. prime example zach wilson first rounder and u have all these new quarterbacks in the league right now on multiple teams and they are all better than him some of their first games are better than his career games. the minute aaron rodgers went down their should have been a better quarterback their even an aging vet who knows the game. no he stuck with wilson forced salah to play him with our defense u give them help on the other side of the ball and they will shut teams down. wilson at best is 3rd string clip board holder. dont get me started on becton and that offensive line nothing done to address that send douglass on his way. we need a better gm like john lynch someone with that mindset.

I never considered this tbh

Lazard is here regardless next year, Cobb is retiring at the end of the year, Hackett will likely be the scapegoat if we lose out anyway

So he really doesn’t need to be loyal to these dudes, we should message him on Twitter JDs W/L record tbh

The biggest mistake that Joe Douglas made is allowing Saleh to pick his offensive coordinators.

Pick somebody that he can get along with instead of somebody that's prepared for the job.

That's what I believe happened.

No head coach worth his salt would allow a GM to pick his assistants. The GM selects the head coach, and the head coach hires the coordinators. We dodged a bullet when Maccagnan offered the head coaching job to Rhule on condition that Maccagnan "had input" into his coordinators and Rhule turned it down, but you won't get a decent head coach if you impose their coordinators on them.

In this day and age, everybody knows that the head coach is going to offer the coordinator and coaching jobs to his buddies that he's made through his time in the NFL. As GM, Douglas needed to be comfortable not just that Saleh was his guy, but blokes like LaFleur and Ulbrich were also the right guys to coordinate the offence and defence respectively.

The only way to do that is fire them both and have Rodgers in the other comments room.

Then walking in saying okay. Where do we go from here.

I am in no way suggesting that is a good idea.

I'll say this again...

If Seattle doesn't have a complete breakdown of their senses - Joe Douglas would be looking like, possibly, the worst GM in a very long line of very bad Jet GM's....

That one trade and the picks that came from it gives him some room, but looking to the future of him as GM - it would be crazy to simply hope for another franchise to make such a poor decision.  It's clear he's not the guy.

I don’t think rodgers turns on Hackett. Which in turn keeps Saleh safe. Leaves JD as the guy who goes down. Which should be case for forcing Zach Wilson down our throats for 3 years.

I cannot think of 1 benefit in keeping JD. You can’t do worse in finding a gm who is more offensive infertile than Joe doughnuts .
