Matt39
They can hit fastballs. Wasn't surprised when they killed Colon, the always do.

124
Like Matt said, the Yankees have killed Colon for as long as he's been in the bigs. Zito still hasn't pitched the same like he did in 04 and previous years for Oakland. Can't not like the win today however. 2-4 and now finally the opening homestand with the Royals. At the very worst they should be going to Minnesota at 4-5.
Matt39
The Yankees better be able to beat the Royals this year.
Maxman
Home sweet home. Put the west coast behind them. Enjoy being home. And start winning some baseball games.

Sharrow
Zito just had a bad night vs NY, he'll be alright. Just look at his performance yesterday: 6 IP, 6K, 0 ERA, 0 BB, 1 H.

NIGHT STALKER
Yanks need to be consistent in their approach to games on an everyday basis. Blowouts are nice, but the tight games are what's killing them right now.
Blackout
Mariano is never going to get the chance to lead the league in saves anymore either the yankees will lose, or they'll blow the other team out
Matt39
Mariano is never going to get the chance to lead the league in saves anymore either the yankees will lose, or they'll blow the other team out Aside from Damon, this is the sam Yankee team of 05. Expect games where the hitting goes off and they put up 10+ runs, but also expect games where the bats completely disapear in the clutch and the pen does their best job at blowing leads. I'm nervous to say the least.
Bob
Aside from Damon, this is the sam Yankee team of 05. True, but I've GOT to believe the pitching staff is going to be healthier this year. That many injuries HAD to be a fluke.
Matt39
True, but I've GOT to believe the pitching staff is going to be healthier this year. That many injuries HAD to be a fluke. True, good point. I guess a better question would be, do you trust our pitching?
AFJF
Actually this team is vastly different when you look at the bullpen. Much better set up situation to where two guys aren't going to get worn out down the stretch like Sturtze did last year, and a couple of lefties with experience getting out in big spots. mbn007
The poster who questioned the pitching. Valid point. But so far, so good. Moose and Randy have been fine. Wang struggled, but if Jeter makes that DP, he has a much better outing. Only Chacon struggled.
