The Fat Man
Aren't you sick and tired of Mangini and the Belechick comparisons? Belechick has had the luxury of winning 3 Super Bowls in New England simply because he had Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crennel as his coordinators. Weiss did great things with every team he has been associated with. Look what he did for Vinny Testeverde! Vinny was horrible before Weiss and horrible after Weiss. Crennel is doing his thing in Cleveland and has made some great offseason moves. His team played tough-nose football all year long. Belechick is back to being an average coach. He will never even see another Super Bowl and I predict that New England will finish last in our division for years to come. Parcells is an average coach without Crennel or Weiss and will retire as a vagabond coach who could not make it without his coaches. Sure Belechick was his Defensive Coordinator on the Giants' Championship runs but Crennel and Weiss are the common denominators. Mangini is his own man. Just because he wants to run a 3-4 doesn't mean he is trying to duplicate Belechick's scheme. The media in New York is once again trying to make chicken salad out of chicken crap. Every move Mangini makes the media calls it a Belechick move..which is utter crap.
quietjets
So was Noll. No head coach in NFL is the best... WHY? it is easy.... No one has won super bowl with at least 2 teams..
Alk
You're right, there is no comparison. Mangini wasn't even good enough to be Belichick's DC without having the reigns pulled out of his hands.

Another dumbass post, as usual. Belichick can walk away from the game today, and he would go down as one of the top 3 coaches in the history of the NFL. I agree somewhat, Belicheck deserves credit for essentially changing the way the team is managed in the salary cap era and he did this better than any other coach. There were a lot of great coaches back in the day so I don't think top 3 is realistic. I think he goes down as maybe top 10 but that's still pretty darn good. I agree he is one of the better, probably even top ten. Yet to call him top three is pretty absurd.

Yet to call him top three is pretty absurd. How many Pro Bowl players did BB have with 3 out of 4 Super Bowl wins? How many Pro Bowl players did Chuck Knoll, Bill Walsh, Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry have? See the difference? Add to the fact that BB had to completely manage the salary cap where these other coaches did not, puts BB easily into the top 3.

DireJet38
Bellichick is the most efficient head coach in the history of the leauge. He gets the most out of his players and sometimes it looks like he is controlling them with a joystick, as if he playing a real life video game... He was put in a good situation in new england and flourished...I think it's pretty clear that he is a doctor of football and def. deserves top 3 ranking. How you draw a correlation of the Giants' titles to Romeo and Weiss is beyond me. Now, Weiss made VT? Go look at his stats. Leaving the down trodden Bucs made VT. I suppossed Chuckles saved Steve Young's career also? Is Weiss' great things include being releived of play calling duties while at the Jets by Par$ells? Managing an average offense most of his years in Foxboro? Weiss' was ignored for HC opportunities until Dillon came to Foxboro and that mid-pack offense became a Top 5 one. I am not meaning to slam Chuckles, because I think he is real good deserves alot of credit transforming Brady into one of the top QBs, but let's not make him seem like he walks on water and is solely responsible for 5 of the last 20 NFL titles. If Belichick is average; so is Jessica Alba. He took a team with back-to-back titles; numerous injuries, FA losses; coaching losses and squeezed 10 wins (should have been 11 if they played the last week) out of a seriously flawed team. RAC and Weiss deserve credit for the three titles, as does quite a few players, but the bottomline is so does the straw stirring the drink..Belichick.
