Zach Wilson EVERY THROW - Week 14 - Houston Texans vs New York Jets

Recommended Posts

Without a doubt ZW’s best combination of decision making and execution in his career by a long shot. Also, zero drops (I think?) and the least number of dead ball penalties against the O in a long time. So, Wilson did well, but his teammates played a large role in his performance, as they should.

And I am convinced that ZW has dropped his arm angle.

So where the F was this offense all year anyway?

Go look back at all the rest of the Zach Wilson Every Throw threads. Honestly this game doesn’t look that much different. The receivers actually just caught the ball and there were less penalties. That’s about it.

That’s why all the people that were ridiculed when we said the offense wouldn’t get better by benching Zach aren’t surprised.

Zach's playing for a shot with another team. Makes sense he looks better now. Once it was clear he wasn't going to stay on the team, his motivation to focus more probably shot up. Because he has ADHD, motivation to focus is everything. Another reason why it was a terrible idea by the CS or JD to hand him all of his jobs.

His teammates haven't done a darn thing for him all year. So many drive killers.

And the fact that the OC called for pass plays on the first FIVE 1st down plays of the 2nd half. Everyone was aggressive, including the play caller.

Seems like it to me. I probably shouldn't have said it with such conviction, because I don't know for sure, but there are a lot of signs pointing towards that. The fact that he's starting at all, despite the fact that the offense wasn't doing much more with him before that, lost season, the way he talked about his Jets career in the postgame press conference. That Deseret News report too, if you trust it. It just adds up. Who knows, I could be wrong, but I just don't see why he's playing at all if not to showcase his skills to other teams.

They did this in 2021 as well. Plays got more creative once it was clear they weren't going to the playoffs, so they had nothing to lose. At this point Zach knows he can only gain from playing aggressively. If my hypothesis is correct.

Curious when in 2021, did they ever have a chance to make the playoffs? And when did he start being aggressive? There was NO change in performance or aggressiveness EVER with MLF. Sorry, you are wrong with this observation.

In the last 3 or 4 games in 2021 they started playing really interesting and aggressive plays occasionally. I mean, they rarely worked and the defense was so bad it didn't matter, but there were some interesting plays that were called.

As of yesterday it could be the case. But if he plays the last 4 like he did today that may change. He'd really have to light it up though if the off-season trade news is real.

2021 is irrelevant, but pretty sure the Jets started 7-4 last year... until Zach Zached. And the Jets Offense with any other QB in the game not named Zach was #1 overall in YPG over a 2 year period. Those are actual, true statistics.

Getting rid of Zach so the phonies like you disappear will be worth it all by itself.

Interesting. I was commenting on someone else’s post. But whatever.

Season ticket holder for most of my life. Along with my brother, who has been a member of these boards for over a decade.

I guess being optimistic and not hating Zach Wilson, makes me a phony.

A decade? Which poster is your bro? Just curious, as your posting style, preferred topics, and timing of board membership is coincidently very similar to such luminaries as guys like Hal, FactsOnly and several others....

If you're a legit Jets fan that just happens to have.... divergent opinions,  well, that's why we're here.

I've been here for damn near 2 decades,  is your brother one of the posters we've interacted with? We have a few Father/Son sets of posters, interesting that we now have a couple of bros.

Surprised he hasn't popped up to tell me to chill out, tbh.

@JETS SB said he had a brother on these forums too, and the over a decade thing checks out. Would not be surprised if that was the case. Just speculating, though.

This is correct. We have interacted before. @JETS SB is my brother (Alan). He is currently at Sloan Kettering but I promise to provide you with further verification, once he is better.

I am right on it @Jet_Engine1. I know how important it is to you, to rid all of the contingent of non haters, from these boards.

"Hater". What are you,  16? FFS,  I spent around $1500 in a 24 hour span to watch the Jets get their asses beat by the Chargers because I hate them? Ass.

I'm just tired of garbage, and people defending the garbage are annoying to me after nearly 5 decades of rooting for this goddamn team as they find new ways to define "dysfunction" and crap Football.

Wait, your brother is fighting cancer, and you thought wishing a bunch of people here would be killed over FOOTBALL was funny? That WAS you, right? Wow.

1 year ago today I gave my Dad's Eulogy. The prospect of losing a family member usually puts things into perspective. Maybe you need to reflect on some things.

He played pretty great today, in really bad conditions.  He deserves all the credit in the world for today.

Too little, far too late, in the grand scheme, IMO, but for today, he's a winner.

To be fair, I don't think he was playing for the job on the Jets at this point.

JSN threw up another monster 4 catch/25 yard day. Could have reeled that guy in.

50 catches and 500 yards on the year, not rookie of the year material but vastly better than lazard cobb dreck.

If you want to dunk on this dude then just choose another er dude.  The point is we needed a WR and took and edge rusher who has played very little and joe douglas's big moves were lazard, cobb, hardman, all less than jags

LOL

Guess the rest of us imagined all those John Stockton bounce passes, wild misfires, holding the ball forever leading to drive killing sacks, the 10 fumbles or whatever it is he has on the season, and his penchant for fleeing clean pockets as if they were ground zero of Chernobyl.

When the only fallback options are Boyle and Siemian, it’s obviously a configuration designed to prop up ZW and make him look like a relative alpha.

Actually, yes. He really hasn't had that many bounce passes or "wild misfires" this year. Again, those who placed way too much blame on Zach over the course of this year, tend to stay out of these threads because even after his bad games, if you go play by play there weren't an egregious amount that fell squarely on his shoulders. If there were, it would be easy to point to the exact time stamps on the video that they are referencing.

Has he had a few bounced passes? Yes. Has he misfired on a few open balls? Yes. So has literally every other QB in the NFL throughout the course of a game/season. Overall though, this year he has done a good job in getting the ball from Point A to Point B, especially on the rare occasions he worked with a clean pocket. I'm not arguing that Zach is a good QB or even top 20 QB but I think if you actually go back and watch the tape with unbiased eyes, you will see that he wasn't in the top 3 reasons why the offense struggled this year (1. OL, 2. Play-calling 3. Penalties, 4. Dropped Passes), and certainly wasn't the ONLY reason like many posters claimed.

There are 100% things to criticize Zach for this year but in the list of offensive failures, I'd rank him 4th or 5th

1) OL Injuries

2) Penalties

3) Hackett playcalling

4) WR Drops

5) Zach Wilson

Jets really couldn't do much, OL injuries are what they are. Hackett was always gonna stay cause of Rodgers. WR drops suck but you weren't adding any outside help.
