The funny thing is, the Texans were -6.5 point favorites, just before Zach Wilson was announced as QB. The line went down to -3.0 just before game time. Vegas always knows.

But Vegas was still wrong... The Jets won?

To bring a line from -6.5 to -3.0 means a sh*tload was bet on the Jets since Wednesday.

Yea, but that doesn't mean suddenly the majority of Vegas thought the Jets were going to win, as saying "Vegas knew" implies.

We caught a young texan team who overachieved this year and were missing all of their offensive weapons.

Vegas knows the stars lined up for us today and next week, its back to reality.

I think you're right, but the positives that the players and coaches are taking from this game can help them for the next game against Miami.

Yes, I completely expect the Jets to lose next week, but it might end up being much closer than it would have if the Jets would have fell apart today.

Personally, I see the Jets losing by 7 points; basically one score.  The opening line is Miami -12.5 points, but might end up Miami -9.

Why?   I opened a thread to talk about our playoff chances.  Thought it would be a fun discussion this week.

Nowhere in that thread did I say that it was realistic or we were going to do it.

Starting a thread called "Playoffs thread!!!" holds a lot of implications as to your opinion. Maybe try to make your titles a little less confusing then, like "If the Jets get to 9-8, are playoffs a possibility?" or "Is there still any hope for playoffs?"

Wow, you are doubling down on this. Did you know that there have been 13 games in the NFL this whole season where a team has held the other team to 3.1 yards per play or less, and the Jets have 3 of them? Even more, they are the only team this season to do it in back to back games, holding the Falcons to 3.0 yards per play and the Texans to 2.6 yards per play? Furthermore, this defense has held the last 2 teams to a combined 19 points. The average points scored in a game by one team is 22 points per game.

I can show all sorts of statistics to show how the Jets have an elite defense, but I don't think you are planning on listening.

I can show a few that says they are not elite.   They are good for sure and played outstanding last game.

But we know how this works, the categories they are not good in is blamed on the offense.

I'm not blaming any of defensive shortfalls on the offense, although that is a good argument.

The Jets D is 28th in rushing yards allowed. Pretty bad, right?

They are 32nd in rushing attempts against, because they are 2nd in about every passing metric except interceptions, which they are still top 10 in. Teams are smart enough to rush more, leading to more rushing attempts. If you actually do the math, the Jets are 12th in rushing yards per attempt.

Other than that they aren't top 10 in turnovers. They are still above average in that. Yes it would be better if they got a couple more turnovers, but they are still getting more than most teams, and their shutdown passing defense makes up for that.

You might be able to show a few stats that show they are not elite, but I can show a lot of stats that show they are.
