Season would have been saved if Siemian said "F U - you go in there"

The idea that its ok for players to refuse to play is laughable... I just drove into work today in a deluge, and we are cheering on millionaires for refusing to play a kids sport.  Give me a break. I'll suit up next week for their game checks and be just as bad and smile every time you ask me to play.

If you went to work in a machine shop that had defective shields on the saws and employees were getting their fingers cut off you might not want to man the saw until it was fixed.   NFL football is extremely dangerous.  Playing QB is one of the most dangerous jobs in the game.

  • The Jets signed up for a 2-3 year Program of AR8, JD, Saleh and Hackett.   As frustrating as it is, it does not make sense to change it now.
  • Fixing the team around AR8 is the best way for the Jets to contend for the playoffs next year.
  • This team has shown glimpses of hope.  We can’t judge the entire picture by the Dolphins game(s).  The entire team gave up knowing that the OL could not block their defense. I had said in another post that Vic Fangio would have the Jets’ number here.
  • The next GM will get another 6 year contract like JD did, with 2 years to clean up JD’s mess.  But for now, JD and Saleh are working for their next job, which will be judged on their ability to put a competitive team on the field next year, for 17 games.
  • If I were them I would walk into Woody’s office and demand a 2x budget increase for strength and conconditoning.

Fellow Jet fans - it was meant in jest. The thought at the time being after Zach had ran for his life the whole game due to any semblance of an O line, that Siemian would have told the member of the Wonder Staff that instructed him to go in after Zach went down to GFY and offer them the chance to go in and run for their lives.

It literally would have saved nothing of the season and certainly never would have happened but would have brought some satisfaction to the fan base if it had.

Well, yes.  We all have to go to work day in and day out.  The difference is most of us don’t have defensive tacklers wanting to take our

heads off.  I think Zach did get a concussion.  His head hit the turf a couple of times and at least one of the contacts was helmet to helmet.  And there was one instance of a Miami player swiping him across the face.

The refs never called a penalty so clearly none of this could have happened, right?  :)  I recall these as well but......well.....my lying eyes I guess.

Tend to agree with this. JD and Saleh both deserve to get canned. I just think this is a pretty brutal job right now. Rodgers is probably not a QB many coaches want to align themselves with right now. He has a reputation as being difficult/wanting things done his way. He is also 40 and coming back from an achilles injury. Its probably realistic 2024 is his last year - especially if things go bad. The offense has a WR and RB that you feel good about going into next year and really nothing beyond that.

I'd rather just see if they can pull a rabbit out of their ass next year and make a run. If they can't just do a total clean house and bring in a GM/HC that can run things their way.

I hate to give them another season, but I agree with you.

They’re both still under contract and next year most likely won’t go well regardless, so we might as well have them earn their supper.

Concussion is one thing… the topic of the thread was about Semien refusing to go in… injury is one thing, out right refusing is another.
