Probably his best path to getting another HC shot

If he comes back next year and fails with Aaron Rodgers (finishing up with an absolutely abysmal record over 4 full seasons as HC), he never gets another HC shot, IMO. 

Most guys who get second chances either: 1) Had success in their first gig, OR 2) Only got 2-3 years in their first gig. Four losing seasons and no success is the end of the line.

I have no problem with what he is saying , basically coaches are always on the hot seat and every next game could be their last . In general he speaks a good game its jut not been extended to actual real life winning.

Saleh would get a new HC gig in a hot minute if he was fired. There's one job with a HC vacancy possibly coming up that I can think of with a chance to draft a franchise QB giving Saleh a couple years to build out his D.

Matt - what do you mean by vague?  Saleh confirmed Wilson is in the concussion protocol and will start the next game if he clears in time.  Also confirmed that the league ordered Wilson to be tested for a concussion which could explain some of the confusing messages during the game

Once they start asking if you’re worried about job security and “coaching to keep your job” you’re a dead man walking.

I thought about this a lot today and I’ve come around to this. If we’re in the top 5-6 we’re going to be able to get one of the top 3 QBs. If that’s the case we clean house on Black Monday and get a new GM and HC who can take their guy. Let the kid sit for a year and have Rodgers take the beating he deserves for bringing in his cast of misfits. If he doesn’t like it, go take a walk and leave your $50 mil behind.

If we beat Washington and New England, we’ll draft around 10-14 so just bring bring everyone back, they have a year left on their deals so let them earn their supper. Then dump them after next season’s fiasco.

But Saleh is not blameless here.  He has overseen a soft team, and he is not accountable. 

But the fact that he talks to Woody everyday about the game plan is part of the underlying problem.

Basically every coach gets fired (Bill Belichick has 6 Super Bowls and is about to get fired) so it's not something coaches obsess about or live in fear of. You stay dedicated to your process and try to win next week, that's all you can control.

Bowles can at least coach at the teaching level.  Saleh is going to be a college HC.  He's a pure recruiter.

I could see JD surviving this. He's had a lot of misses in the draft, but he may have hit on just enough players that Woody might consider keeping him. All of the bad free agent signings were done at the behest of Aaron Rodgers, so Woody might give him a pass for that. There was also a report earlier in the season that Woody was behind them not bringing in another big salary at QB after Rodgers went down, so he gets another excuse for not having a viable backup QB.

Saleh is a whole different story. The open dissention among the players (going back to Elijah Moore last year), the slow starts each week, the lack of discipline (penalties), the team quitting on him several times, and the historically bad offense.....that all goes beyond the injury to ARod. I don't see how they can justify keeping him.

Is he pretending?   Watching Saleh at this point is cringe worthy.  You have to believe his wife or a close friend will convince him to take a college job and get out of here.  I can't believe he's willing to put himself through this every week.  It looks painful.

Would anyone be surprised if Woody, in an attempt to look cool in front of his fellow billionaire owners what actually built their own wealth, talked up the teams game plan to them before the game? 

It would explain why bellichick seems to know every play call before it happens since woody bought the jets in 2000 and belichick took over the pats in 2000?

People ask why he only hires DC’s. I think it’s because he likes tinkering with the offense.

• Saleh may not go straight to an HC job, but after he gets fired from the Jets (or his contract expires), he will find his way in an HC spot again, like Bowls.  
• If Woody wants to make a statement and creative (but it would cost him money), he would:
  • Fire JD in a month, and hire a new long term GM.   That person would be responsible for the roster during AR8 2024 and afterwards.
  • Fire Saleh for doing what he is doing.
  • Make Ulbrich HC.  Hire a rising star DC.
  • Leave Hackett OC.
• This would change it up, add new blood and hopefully motivate the coaching staff.  Hopefully we would still have our defense, and AR8 gets his coordinator.  
• It all gets rebooted in 2025.
