MTV had the enormous coverage for the death of the "creator" of grunge:rolleyes::rolleyes:. But never-the-less the true leader of grunge died of an overdose in 2002 rather unceremoniously.. Jetheelz
It was 2002 when Layne Staley died from an apparent lethal overdose of heroin and cocaine. For a while before he died the band was contemplating a reunion tour, but after Staley's death Jerry Cantrell and the other members of the band decided not to do it. The ironic thing about Staley's death is that the coroner approximated his death to be on April 5th...Curt Cobain also died on the same date 8 years earlier. They reminded me alot of AIC.

stormshadow19
I have Cantrell's solo ablum. Sorry to say it's awful. He has two of them. Boggy Depot and Degredation Trip. 124, come on man... you're better than that. Besides that, while Layne did write lyrics for AiC, Jerry Cantrell did at least half. He was the force behind AiC. But, there's no way AiC becomes as big without Layne. It was chemistry.

Cantrell wrote 95% of AIC's songs. That's why his solo stuff sounds so much like AIC. Because he was the creative force behind them. IMO, Layne Staley is the greatest frontman of the past 25 years. His pairing with Cantrell was musical bliss.
