Just crawl out of your hole? MTV had the enormous coverage for the death of the "creator" of grunge:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:. But never-the-less the true leader of grunge died of an overdose in 2002 rather unceremoniously..

Well at least Chris Cornell is alive. Now all we need is for him to come out of his musical coma and start singing songs like Jesus Christ Pose again.

And that makes you no better of a person by poking fun at their deaths. It actually puts you in the same class, except you have no talent.

Hey if I were ****ed up in the head like they were I'm sure I could think of lyrics as well.

It was 2002 when Layne Staley died from an apparent lethal overdose of heroin and cocaine. For a while before he died the band was contemplating a reunion tour, but after Staley's death Jerry Cantrell and the other members of the band decided not to do it.

The ironic thing about Staley's death is that the coroner approximated his death to be on April 5th...Curt Cobain also died on the same date 8 years earlier.

Definatel check it out. Like I said, it is by far their best tune ever.

OK, i'll also add Man in the Box to my list. I just heard your song, its good, but not one of my favs. To each his own. Great band, too bad, they will be missed.

Hey Vinny, I don't know if you were aware or not but Jerry Cantrell has his own band now. I have only heard one song but it sounded good. They reminded me alot of AIC.

When I heard one of the first singles off of Jerry Cantrell's solo album I thought it was AIC...the sound is so similar

I have Cantrell's solo ablum. Sorry to say it's awful.

He has two of them. Boggy Depot and Degredation Trip.

124, come on man... you're better than that. Besides that, while Layne did write lyrics for AiC, Jerry Cantrell did at least half. He was the force behind AiC. But, there's no way AiC becomes as big without Layne. It was chemistry.

Don't they think he was dead for at least a week before anybody found him?

Yeah, at least a week. He was in his Seattle apartment and apparently decomposing when they found him. Nice. I guess he has distanced himself from others.

"It Ain't Like That" is hands down their best IMO. "Sea of Sorrow" is also pretty damn awesome.

Them Bones is by far my fave by AIC. Also love Sick Man and Right Turn.

BTW, did you know Godsmack the band named themsleves after the AIC song?

It's an alright song...

And yeah, Jerry's stuff doesn't have the same thing as AiC. It's missing Layne. Not to be simple about it, but that's a huge chunk. It's that whole chemistry thing.

Cantrell wrote 95% of AIC's songs. That's why his solo stuff sounds so much like AIC. Because he was the creative force behind them. IMO, Layne Staley is the greatest frontman of the past 25 years. His pairing with Cantrell was musical bliss.

He wrote 95% of the music, yeah. The lyrics, though, were just about 50/50.
