I would’ve liked to see rypien in a game. One position they will need to fill is a replacement for Al wood. Wood made an impact in the middle until he was injured. He’s up there in age. And becton is tough. He’s still a very large presence but he had some bad games and too many dumb penalties. And then there are guys like Tomlinson who should be cut loose. They drafted his replacement last year. That would create a lot of holes to fill. There are some decent backups on the list. We need to spend all our resources fixing the starting OL and WR unit. If we have holes at backup spots on defense, it creates a risk of not focusing on what matters most. Hall for example stepped in nicely for Sauce. Quincy Williams is an example of what Saleh can do with a defensive player. Can we name one Jets player on offense who has developed? I don't count Hall and G. Wilson because they were ripe off the vine. The only player on offense who has developed somewhat is Jeremy Ruckert, but he hasn't exactly lit up the stat sheets.

#27TheDominator
Everybody is looking to keep Huff, or in some cases do some kind of wildly improbable sign and trade. I think he is most likely to be gone. The only guys that would factor in as requiring replacement are him, Becton, Woodhead and the kickers. I assume with most of the rest, they will probably give them lowish offers and let them test the market. If any of them get good deals it will factor in the comp pick formula. If they don't, they can return. IMO Huff will be too expensive. Becton is a guy that they probably have had enough of. They are super thin at tackle, so it will be interesting to see how they handle him. At safety they have three guys that are FA and I assume they would be happy to bring them all back, but probably will let them test the market. They may put a priority on bringing at least one back for continuity sake. I wouldn't even preclude bringing Amos back on a late deal. Not sure if he requested his release because he has issues with the team or because he knew he could hook up with a contender (Texans tampering?). Similar with DT. They will probably want at least one of those guys back, but aren't going to pay much. Woods signed late, and I think they will look to fill these positions through late FA that won't count on the comp formula and have them lose the 3rd they'd stand to get for Huff. OT is the only place I'd expect a net loss on the comp formula and maybe Becton gets a big enough deal to cancel that out some. FWIW, I think this year they are expected to get a 6th and either one or two 7ths.
rex-n-effect
I don't see any any Douglas keeps Lawson or Brown on the roster so those are easy eliminations. I suspect Huff wants to move on unless he gets a commitment to see the field a lot, which isn't Saleh's system. I would be surprised if he's here next year. Douglas should re-sign the P and K unless they have unreasonable demands. Cobb should be gone, no question. For continuity one or both of the safeties need to return. The rest of the guys, I don't have strong feelings either way. If there are reasonable contracts and no clear upgrades, bring them back. A lot of these players are depth. They aren't making or breaking the team and eventually they can be replaced with comparable players. Douglas needs to focus on shoring up the offense and putting points on the board next season, not scrambling around for competition at the bottom of the depth chart. The bottom of the DL depth chart isn't making or breaking this team.
