Boozer76
What playmaker WR's will be on the board at 35 or rd 3? Jets desperately need some playmakers on offense? The only playmakers we MIGHT need on offense is at QB and RB. And quite frankly we don't need to rush to fill those positions this year with guys full of ?????'s such as V Young and Joseph Addai. Build the OL so that we can create some running lanes for Houston and give Ramsey some time to throw. If neither of them work out, then look to replace them next year. SoFlaJets
this is the first draft in a long time where WR's aren't hardly even mentioned as top picks.I guess all of those guys the Lions had been drafting kinda put the guard up as far as the NFL is concerned.Sinorice is a gamebreaker like his brother but even smaller. That being said-we DO need some pass catchers still
bman
desperately need a RB with speed and playmaker at WR.. I dont care how good your O line is, if the defense has no one to worry about there will be coverage sacks every play.

L. Coles 2. Jmac 3. Cotchery 4. T. Dwight This means we have a veteran #1, a good #2 (hope) a young developing wr in Cotchery and a speedster that can return kicks. I don't think we should touch a wr until the later rounds.
bman
Cothchery and Jmac are expendeble..as is dwight.. None of our wr's or RBs will put fear into any defensive coordinator.. I think that is what is being built right now and for the future. Remember how explosive and dyunamic Steve Smith was at the end of last year, he was instilling a lot of fear but when it came down to it he, and the Panthers, were beaten by a better team not a better wr. The two best receivers in this draft are both Tight Ends: Vernon Davis and Leonard Pope. I don't think the Jets would draft Davis at 4 though I think he will be a great player in the NFL and that move would help Patrick Ramsey tremendously by giving him an Antonio Gates to throw to. Leonard Pope might be available at 29. He's 6'8, around 260 lbs and is as fast as some of the wr's that some people want the Jets to draft. I don't understand how defenses are going to guard this guy, especially in the redzone. He's too fast for a linebacker and too big and tall for a safety. Someone who can break a game wide open. Santana did not have those same sideline problems last year. Camp Herm unfortunatly did him in here. L Coles = Possession WR - Very good though J Mac = Joke - may not make team if he practices like he has played the last 2 years. Cotchery = I see the promise but still not a deep threat. More of a possession WR from what I have seen so far and read. Dwight = only deep threat currently on the team. Also the only home run threat on the offense. He is a little long in the tooth and could probably hold the fort long enough for someone like Moss to develop. Also would be a great mentor to someone like a Moss and would give good competition. bman
The offensive skill positions have HINDERED this team for awhile now.. If its Not Chad not being able to throw a downfield dart, then its Martin being too slow to turn the corner.. Bottomline is this team needs some weapons..some playmakers who can score. RSJ
WR size is overrated today. Mainly because of the pass interference rules. Corners are playing off giving them the opportunity to time and brak up passes. Previously a tall WR was able to out muscle a smaller corner and get position on him. Since corners are playing off this is not possible. That is why you see the breakout of small and fast WR's the last couple years instead of the big physical ones. I'll take a small scatback WR like Dieon Branch any day of the week over a large WR. But first you need a good QB who can hit a smaller target. The seahawks were beat by better wr's??? Really? I thought it was their TE choking and the refs that did them in, not to mention Big Ben's stellar SB performance. Seriously though RS, I don't see one guy coming out of this draft that will scare anyone. I'm sticking to my main point, I would rather have our team feared than try and land a guy that instills fear. Sh!t, the Jets D was able to shut down Steve Smith, and he's as scary as they come! I agree with you sort of. You can not survive having just one threat in the passing game even if he is dominant. But you need to build a WR core of consistent pass catchers of all types in order to expose an opponents weekness on a week in and week out basis. PeterNorth09
Anybody who thinks we have good receivers and it was just our qb and O-line problems that hindered the offense needs to seriously reexamine the situation.
