JetNation
Robert Saleh and the Jets reportedly met with former NFL running back Duce Staley in an attempt to lure him to Florham Park as their running backs coach but Staley wasn’t interested. Jets looked into hiring Duce Staley to replace Embree but sounds like he’ll be going to the Browns. https://t.co/xeCGYY4HMY — Zack Rosenblatt (@ZackBlatt) January 23, 2024 He opted instead to join the Cleveland Browns in the same role which leaves the Jets without a running backs coach following the departure of Taylor Embree. Popular Post Rochester Jets
It’s gonna take Woody no longer being the owner for the Jets to have a chance at turning this around. Watching other teams with actual coaches play, seeing Harbaugh go to the Chargers, and even this just says to me that we’re never high on the list of the elite coaches. I just feel like there’s a reason why we haven’t had a top notch head coach since Parcells. It’s a 3-5 year cycle for first time HC’s to come in, suck, and get fired.

y2k8
After seeing his antics on Hard Knocks 2 years ago, I'm not mad he turned down the Jets. But I am disappointed in the Jets judgement for actually wanting to hire him. Guy is a clown.

football guy
Browns situation more stable than ours, so not necessarily a surprise. They need to add a new RB coach obviously. QB coach Rob Calabrese is in limbo. They are looking into adding/replacing a few assistant/specialty roles and at least someone with an OL background. There’s also a chance they reorganize the coaching staff by reassigning existing coaches into different roles, which was something they looked into last year

Yup. Add in a team heavily lacking in talent that is unlikely to make the playoffs and you’re going to have some real problems is recruiting.
Bobby816
Why is this a surprise? If you're a RB coach are you going and coaching a good Chubb, Hunt, Ford with a good OL in front of them or Hall a nobody as of now in Izzy and a poor OL in front of them? I have heard several times from people they want to add at least 1-2 coaches to the offensive side of the ball.

Staley just showed us there not coming here. now maybe next year if they get extensions that will change. and were not heavily lacking in talent.
Big Snell
Maybe Dalvin Cook can get a couple of million more coaching the backs after he gets his ring and retires this year. How hard could it be to tell someone to run into a brick wall 20 some odd times a game !

I do understand what you’re saying but where we differ is it’s not just that Saleh is a lame duck. It’s he’s a lame duck that’s almost certain to be fired after this year. If the team was talented people would be more likely to take the job because Saleh might get renewed - but outside of Jet Nation no one believes the Jets are going to be good next year.
