Popular Post Sarge4Tide
RIP. Great HS star from Mobile AL. went to Jackson State in the days before big time southern football was integrated. Nowadays he’d be a 5* recruit with every college in America after him.

rangerous
That 72 game was awesome. Both QBs were showing what great passers they were and both defenses couldn’t stop them. Caster was awesome that day. It seemed like every time he caught the ball he was going in for a td. 1

Lith
RIP. One of my favorite Jets from the post SB era. Never got a high volume of targets, but the guy was a big play threat whenever the ball went his way. Perfect complement to Namath.
BroadwayRay
He was one of the few good players on the Jets when I started following the team. RIP
roscoeword
Started as a wide receiver, then switched to tight end (or was it the other way around)... In his first years, he dropped the ball alot, he was often open on those bombs.. But eventually his hands got better. Rooting for him and Jerome Barkum was fun... To this day, if I want to remember no. 88,i think of Richard Caster, and 83 is Barkum. Do you think he got the Parkinsons from playing football? Biggs
He was great. Terrible hands but he was wide open all the time and Namath couldn't resist chucking the ball down field to him. A lot of fun when he actually cought the ball.

hmhertz
The Katch brothers did analytics to find the optimum body for each position for the Cowboys and the Jets. they concluded RC had the perfect receiver body. Along with his physical traits he was super smart
hmhertz
The number one yards per catch for TEs in NFL history https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/tight-end-with-the-highest-yards-per-reception-in-nfl-history and Maynard has the highest average per catch of any receiver with 600 catches, which proves, Rodgers & Mahomes can't suck Joe Willie's d***
#27TheDominator
RIP One of my favorites. He only caught one ball at the first game I went to, but it was for 49 yards. The "other" Jets Colts game in 1972.

Yep. Did you stay until the end? 228 yards and 2 TDs on 5 completions. My Dad was always a huge Maynard guy. Maynard had 1 catch for 28 yards and the lowest yards per catch on the team! The Colts safety had the ball in his hands and Bell just took it and ran into the end zone and started clicking his heels. At the time we thought Riggins was going to carry that team for years to come.

I remember seeing him catch the pass off the deflection and scoring the TD. 5-16 for 228 and 2TDs. Plus 3 picks, Only Namath could have a line like that.

I remember listening to that on the radio, with Marty Glickman calling the game, and then I waited until 10:30 on Sports Extra ch 5 with Bill Mazer, to finally see that winning play with Eddie Bell.
