Popular Post 83Kelly2Allen18
I've followed Michigan football my whole life and JJ McCarthy is by far the most talented QB I've ever seen at Michigan...He has everything... Elite arm- Elway like Elite leadership and toughness Excellent off platform and mobility Solid pocket awareness but a bit raw. Courage in the pocket Is not a check down Charlie or living off screens and rub routes Elite placement and arm to play outside the numbers Smart and from a blue collar background His only knock is he's still a bit raw and was in a run heavy offense but do not be fooled. He has generational talent. I believe this is the perfect situation for the jets to draft a true blue chip prospect and allow him to learn behind Rodgers for a couple years.... My only worry is ownership/Douglas not being able to think long term and how fast he's rising up boards to the point he could be a top 3 pick. I'm going to be extremely upset if he's there at ten and we pass. I believe this could be our real chance at luck going our way if Douglas is assured long term stability 4 1 1 2

If your a Bills fan fine, but if I’m a Jets fan I won’t have a profile name or picture relating to another team. Just seems strange to me as once I’ve picked my team that’s it, I can’t have two. Who do you want to win when Jets play the Bills, just asking?

Popular Post JiFtheOracle
JJ is a tough analysis for me because he's asked to do so little in that offense and all the action in that offense is gives you limited opportunities to see him just work from the pocket. Only 2 years of starting experience and Harbaugh really didnt ask much from him. He's never eclipsed 3k in yards, never thrown over 22 TD's in a season and he's barely eclipse 300 yards passing, twice, in 30 starts, only 3 games w/ over 30 attempts and the results were mixed. He's not someone you want to run the RPO at the next level because he's a 175lbs soaking wet and not really a threat to run, so it would be interesting to see what kind of offense he can execute at the next level. I wont argue the positives you mentioned, though I dont see an Elway like arm but here are my concerns: - extremely tailored offense, pocket constantly moves, tons of RPO, tons of play action, tons of pistol and shotgun, very little transferable film, lot of movement to get one on one looks - level of competition is laughable. Nice win vs. Bama this year but dude completed 27 passes for 350 yards during the playoffs. I mean, you're not going to be able to hide your QB like that in the NFL, especially during crunch time of the NFL season. - terrible pocket presence, his drop backs are inconsistent, his eyes go down to the pass rush way too fast, turns his back to the LOS, a lot. But my biggest concern w/ his pocket presence is dude bails on clean pockets like his name was Zach Wilson. - struggles w/ accuracy and placement to the outside hash marks - no signature game or moment, true game manager who relied heavily on D and run game, I dont know if he has that moment where Michigan doesnt win w/ out the play of their QB. - not a lot of timing and anticipation throws on film. More of a, see open guy, throw ball to open guy, loves to sit in the pocket and wait for break downs and 1on1 situation so he can just throw it and hope (very similar to Zach Wilson college film) There is a 0% chance I'd take him in the 1st round, let alone at #10 overall. 6
T0mShane
You know what would fix the Jets? If we drafted a Gen Z version of Christian Ponder, but who mediates barefoot under the crossbar before games to deal with job stress. 1

k-met57
assuming the jets think Rodgers can win a SB, and are "all in". drafting a QB in the first round would be malpractice....even if you think the jets are going to be holding their dicks in 2 years when Rodgers retires.

JetPotato
Drafting a QB in Round 1 is absolutely the right approach for this franchise, which is exactly why it won't happen. Every nitwit in that organization still believes that they are in "win now" mode. They'll all be gone in a year, except Doody, who will replace them with the next group of unqualified dopes.

Rough interpersonal skills in the locker room and came from an insulated environment with his dad deciding every move. I believe like Zach he still lives with his parents too. I would have crossed him off my list with a giant red Sharpie the second he finished telling me that he earned enough driving part time for UberEats to be able to drive back and forth to Cali to work with John Beck, who charges like $10k per week. GTFO young JetBlue scion. 1

Sonny Werblin
Sorry, but JJ McCarthy does not possess the talent of elite placement. And he still has a ways to go in regard to being a refining his mechanics to become an effective pocket passer. He could be an excellent pro QB, but he needs a season, more likely two, on the bench working on his mechanics and defensive reads.

I am sorry but I just do not agree with your assessment at all. He might be a decent NFL QB but I think the Jets need a solid vet as a back up. Now, if he is available on Day 3 - maybe. Otherwise, the Jets have other more important needs and a limited amount of picks.

And honestly, he really struggled with accuracy on outside passes in the playoffs. Had some airmailed throws against Bama.
