faba
Japanese Man Recovers $42K From Trash By Associated Press document.write(getElapsed("20060413T212338Z"));Thu Apr 13, 5:23 PMUPDATED 21 HOURS 8 MINUTES AGO TOKYO - Japanese police on Thursday returned 5 million yen ($42,200) to a man whose wife accidentally threw it out with the trash, a news report said. The man lost the money in early March when his wife threw out the envelope in which he had hidden the cash, Kyodo News agency said. The man had been hiding the envelope _ which he had wrapped in a trash bag _ in a garbage can, it said. "I had been moving the cash around and hiding it in various places so it couldn't be stolen by robbers," Kyodo quoted the unidentified 35-year-old man in Saitama prefecture (state) as saying. His wife, unaware that the money was in the garbage can, threw it out along with the rest of the trash, the report said. In late March, the man saw news reports that a sanitation worker had found the cash at a garbage facility and filed a report with police, it said. Police confirmed he was the owner from banking and other details on the envelope, it said. A Saitama police spokesman who identified himself only by the surname Takeuchi confirmed the cash had been returned, but declined to provide any details. Saitama is 14 miles north of Tokyo

Bugg
My mother-in-law, God rest her soul, was a saint. With one vice-bingo. She hid all her winnings from her husband the way most of us do from a spouse so they spouse dossn't know waht things cost, how much you spend, etc. One occasion, she hides her bingo winnings-close to $3000 in cash-in the garbage of all places. My father-in-law, a good guy, is more Oscar than Felix. To this day, he doesn't pick up anything or take out the garbage-not ever. And on this one occasion, he decides to throw out the garbage. She comes home, sees what has happened, and afet egtting over her disbeleif that he fianlly takes out the garbage on this day of all times, runs outside to the pails to find that the Department of Sanitation has not yet taken the garbage bag, and her cash is stills ecure amonsgt banana peels and coffee grounds.
