This one sucks. He is injured all the time and a turd besides.

You’re a turd. Just sayin. And yet they let you stay around. So he should fit right in.

I'd suspect most directly replacing Solomon Thomas who came in from a near identical situation of a past with Saleh in SF.

Thomas just had what you could consider a career year (on a relative scale, as a backup that is) after being a total bust for SF, so likely looking to repeat that or better with Kinlaw, another disappointing first rounder who's availability came from SF declining his 5th year option.  Hardly the greatest of priorities for this team, but as a one-year deal it should be fairly low-dollar, so not much to hate as long as that's the case.

Jets Saleh Seeking Free Agent Reunion with 49ers Defensive Tackle?

The New York Jets may look to a former pupil of head coach Robert Saleh for some much-needed help at defensive tackle: San Francisco 49ers free agent Javon Kinlaw.

Following three standout collegiate seasons at South Carolina, Kinlaw joined the Niners as their first-round (No. 14 overall) selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. As a rookie, the 6-5, 319-pound tackle appeared in 14 games and started 12. He recorded 1.5 sacks, 33 total tackles, one interception, and four passes-defensed. For his efforts, he was selected to the PFWA All-Rookie team.

Unfortunately, Kinlaw suffered an ACL injury in Sept. 2021, which would derail much of the progress he built during his rookie season. Over the next two seasons, he played in just 10 games, while registering only 12 total tackles and one quarterback hit.

Unsurprisingly, the 49ers declined the fifth-year option of Kinlaw's rookie contract, making him a free agent in the 2024 offseason. The 26-year-old responded by appearing in all 17 games, while making six starts for the eventual NFC Champions. He finished the season with 3.5 sacks, 25 total tackles, and three passes defended.

Omg

This is JD’s first big move of FA?

Kinlaw is a medical bust who also comes off like a serial killer

Got into infamous beef with Grant Cohn of SI, threatening reporter with physical harm just because he called him out for being a freaking bust

Dude makes Becton look like Cal Ripken Jr. in terms of durability

This is an ok move for me. Sure he isn’t costing much and the talent is there. Saleh does get the most out of his DLineman, so the potential for him to reach his potential is there. I still think we need a run stuffing DT though.

But if kinlaw can stay healthy and how talented a pass rushing young group of JJ, Q, Kinlaw and Mac could be is scary.

Every signing we will make will be a POS.  It's the SOJF way.

Stop with the SOJF stuff, it’s weak.

I’m talking about him being garbage as a person. But since you brought it up he hasn’t done sh*t on the field either.

I'm sure he is going to love the media market here.

Well, I'm distinctly Meh on this one.

High pick who hasn't done much as a 49er, and doesn't seem like a great guy off the field either.

At least Solomon Thomas is a nice guy, and he actually played pretty well last year. And doesn't speak with his mouth full, either.

Maybe Thomas returns to pair with Kinlaw to form a former 49er 1st round bust rotation opposite Quinnen at DT.
