The Fat Man
Draft any player that will be moved from their normal position in college. Lets face it folks, the experiement player and/or project player who has been a QB in college and moves to WR or CB in the pro's 99% never works out. For every Antaan Randall El, I will show you 20 Tim Couch's and Adrian Jones'. The old Terry Bradway method of fitting the athlete to a postion is too risky for our team and has a proven track record of messing up a good thing. I think I will call this the Kordell Stewart approach! Slash was known for his ability to run punts and kickoffs. He was also a good receiver. Cowher made him QB and allowed him to stench for years thus ruining his career. If the Jets need a OT then draft one...no more Tight End converted players please!!!!!!!!!! When was Tim Couch moved from QB? Anyway, there is one player we should look at later in the draft, say 4th or 5th round. Michael Robinson is a hell of an athlete andcould become an outstanding WR. lawngnome o-line
Wasn't CROUCH from Nebraska moved from QB and tried to make it as a safety? I'm sure that's who he's talking about
gsnts725
Crouch was drafted by the Rams, and they tried to convert him to a WR.
PeterNorth09
It's one thing to move a player to a position he isn't suited for, like making Scott Frost a safety. It's another thing to to move a player to a position he is better suited for like Randle-El and Hines Ward. Vernon Davis could certainly make the move from Tight End to receiver. He even played a lot of receiver in college and has the speed and skills for it.

Dunta_23
Hardly any schools run a 3-4 so your OLB's will be changing from DE's to OLB's...the Texans went through it and it suckes....were goin back to the 4-3 this year

PatsFanTX
Draft any player that will be moved from their normal position in college. Yea, it has never worked taking an undersized DE in college and moving him to OLB in the NFL.
rajensen088
The Jets have their own history in drafting great college QB's and trying to turn them into DB's. Parcells drafted Nebraska QB Scott Frost and made him a safety. Frost led the Huskers to a national championship. In the 1980's the Jets drafted an Oklahoma QB with the intention of making him a DB. Having led the Sooners to consecutive Big 8 championships and an Orange Bowl win, he turned down the Jets and signed with a Canadian football team that promised him he would only play QB. He was out of football shortly afterwards... The OU QB later turned out to be the Conservative Republican icon JC Watts.
The Gun Of Bavaria
What about the Jets moving Pennington from franchise QB to cheerleader? Now that was a move
quietjets
It does not matter as long as Jets do not take one in day one..
JoeWillie
And watching Mel Kiper during the Lageman pick say the Jets just don't get it. I believe what Kiper was referring to was not that Lageman wouldn't be a good player, but that the Jets could have gotten him much later in the draft. No one had him rated as high as the Jets picked him and if the Jets really wanted him, they could have moved down and accumulated some more picks. Although Lageman turned out to be a good player for the Jets, Kiper was right on.
