Rodgers sets Record Straight on Sandy Hook; no Mention of VP Rumors

Recommended Posts

Aaron Rodgers

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers took to twitter today to refute yesterday’s report that he had previously questioned the validity of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School back in December of 2012.

As I’m on the record saying in the past, what happened in Sandy Hook was an absolute tragedy. I am not and have never been of the opinion that the events did not take place. Again, I hope that we learn from this and other tragedies to identify the signs that will allow us to…

The QB is on record condemning the incident while expressing empathy for the victims and their families.  “I hope we learn from this and other tragedies to identify the signs that will allow us to prevent unnecessary loss of life” were Rodgers’ words.

However, he did not address the recent rumors linking him to presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy who is said to be eyeing the Jets quarterback as a potential running mate for the 2024 election.

I'm guessing that's because nothing was fabricated.

Well there is audio proof that confirms what he just announced and no audio proof he said anything about it to a CNN reporter, 11 years ago, who is just coming out with it now.

I choose to believe the proof then and the proof now. Maybe that’s just me.

VERY glad to hear/read this.

CNN.  Commie News Network,  They should hire Jimmy Kimmel as their prime anchor man.

CNN claimed two independent sources, their own reporter and someone they supposedly were protecting from harassment (which tbf seemed an odd thing to say in the article).

Since it's a he said/she said/they said situation, almost assuredly not recorded, I doubt they'll be much lingering in either direction.  CNN presumably did their due diligence via multiple independent sources (typical media stuff) and Rodgers issued his vapid "nuh uh" statement.

In the absence of anything additional, yeah, I'd say neither party is likely to see any ramifications.  If you loved Rodgers yesterday, you probably still love him today.  If you didn't trust CNN yesterday, you likely still don't today.  And vice versa, of course.

Regardless of if it's true, what was the intention in releasing it ? And why so many years later...?

trying to look at this logically and really avoid the political aspect which is next to impossible

they sit on this story for 11 years waiting for the optimal time to publish. Did someone there think hey this guy has political aspects someday so lets wait for that time? Answer is 99.999% no.

He gave them ample opportunities to further smear him especially with his witholding the truth on his vaccine. They kept it under wraps most likely because they could not make a connection that sticks.

So now there is a story/rumor that he is going to be the vp candidate for RFK - now we have a situation where this story becomes useful because it causes harm to a campaign that could negatively impact their agenda. To be fair, this would be the same tactic if it was other media outlets backing opposing agendas.

So again - simply logic - someone had the forsesight to sit on this and wait for him to enter the political arena and then use it?

If that is true I will pay them 1 million dollars to spend a week with me at any horse track in the country because I will make it back 1000 fold.

Taek emotion and nonsense out and just try and stick with logic and facts.

Seems reasonable that it was in relation to the RFK comments about meeting with Rodgers to potentially be his VP.

The criteria/threshold for reporting about a pro athletes personal views is, generally/often, quite different that that for reporting on a political candidates or potential candidates views.

But you'd have to ask CNN, I can only speculate, as the timing seems rather clear cut, relationship-wise.

There is a long, looooooong history of the sports media/media holding back embarrassing information on pro athletes.  Seems it's done less these days, but it's still done.

If you're gonna run for VP (or at least considering it) this type of stuff becomes very relevant

Indeed.  The Jets QB that is already a media lightning rod is now directly embroiled in politics.  How can politics be avoided now when discussing anything to do with Rodgers ???

Nah, they weren't sitting on anything. "Football player says something stupid" isn't a story. "Potential VP candidate does" is.

When that football player is Aaron Rodgers, everything he says gets scrutinized, put on late night TV and is a national story. So yeah. Nice try.

Based on all the other wacky sh*t he throws out there, I tend to believe this happened but he understands how bad of a look it is.  As long as he's saying the right things now though and there is no record of him saying this in the past, he's good as far as I'm concerned.  Hopefully we can move on from this.
