Troy Vincent: NFL aiming to eliminate “swivel hip-drop” tackles despite NFLPA objections

Recommended Posts

It is unfortunate guys get injured with the hip drop but with the size and speed of players these days it will be literally impossible for some players to tackle other players.  Also with no head shots and no hip drop and no horse collars, be ready to way more leg injures as guys are just diving into legs and knees.

It means the NFL has monopolized people’s minds to a point that they can completely change the game with so many dumb penalties, outcomes can be controlled and they can make even more money off mindless peasants hooked on this dumb sh*t like we’re all on drugs, bc humanity is the virus of this planet. 🫶

If Derek Henry is running down field, and a safety/ corner comes up along side of him, how the hell is that 190-200 pound defender supposed to bring that rampaging rhino down?

It's just a tackle, IMO.

You can't legislate tackling out of football.

If you understand that their intention is to take the physicality out of football it’s easy to understand. In 10 years the NFL will be unrecognizable and be closer to tag football than tackle football. All that matters to the power brokers is not the type of football but rather $$$ that they generate. If people keep buy paying for the anemic product they put on the field they could care less. The NFL is being Taylor Swifted

Wouldn’t say I don’t understand it as much as I think it sucks.

It does suck and that’s their intention. It’s all about expanding the product. If they can generate a net million more fans by creating a less violent product they will do it in a heartbeat as opposed to maintaining a “purist” product

i didnt see anything wrong with that tackle - he wrapped him up and brought him down.

It's basically a horse collar from the waist

The wrong thing about it is the high injury rate.

Guys snapping their acls and tibia like breadsticks

Mark Andrews missed like 4 months after this play. It reduces points which is bad for the game

Unlike the tush push which scores points and no one gets hurt

they are taught from pee wee league to wrap up and not arm tackle.

and whose to say he would not have gotten injured with another tackle type - he just may have.

Time will tell.  It's certainly the goal at this point.

And once they get rid of tackling, points will skyrocket and the league will be awesome.

They don't. A touchdown and people cheer

That's a better outcome than Derrick Henry out 4, 6 or 9 months

Life in the league is already brutal enough with 17 games and Achilles snapping like slim Jim's

See, this is where you’re wrong. It’s not about expanding the product. It’s about reducing liability.

I'd rather see easy points than easy injuries

These players are not disposable, a few starters get hurt the product becomes unwatchable

Source being a Jets fan

This is the way I see it, it only became popular by way of a variant of the horse collar tackle. Both with the defender chasing from behind.

You didn’t see this tackle 10-15 years ago.

These men are professionals they know what they are doing

It's just too dangerous and honestly who gives a rats ass about the ease of tackling for the linebacker? Or some db? They can figure it out

The ball carriers are the only reason anyone watches and that statement includes the Jets

We don't want to see Garrett or breece hip dropped either
