I've been searching for this video for 22 years and it looks like someone just posted it. The Jets drafted Bryan Thomas instead of Ed Reed or Mike Rumph, who were my top two targets. Herm Edwards and Terry Bradyway were special types of clowns.

Is the other guy who was interviewed alongside of me on this board? Make yourself known!

He wanted Mike Rumph.  I'm pretty sure that he was rocking the Mo Lewis.  I'd have taken Reed then and in hindsight.  Especially for the cover who.  That whole moving Ellis inside thing to be "the New Warren Sapp" was silly.

Which one Jets fan are you? Chris who was shocked by the pick, or Mike from Virginia with the white hat on backwards?

Answer: Chris

It's an interesting draft pick

Bryan Thomas played his whole career with the Jets, 10 years, ages 23 to 33

He had a slow start but 8.5 sacks in 2006 he was also a major part of the Rex Ryan defenses, which we now know was the franchises high water point since Namath

Ed Reed was a stud but mike rumph was not. I often wonder how Ed reeds career would have gone if instead of seeing Ray Lewis his first day as a pro, he sees Herman Edwards

Baseball has this idea of the mendoza line, Bryan Thomas is a very average draft pick. Not great not terrible, and they have certainly seen worse outcomes

For those who are reading this day of the draft and want a trade down, look at the drafts of history, usually trading down is a mistake

The analytics folks say the opposite, especially if you can get future picks back as part of the deal. The simply theory being that more chances = more chances for success.

Do you mean the franchise's defensive high water point since Namath?  Or do you mean the franchise's high water point since Namath?

Because, if either the former or the latter, have you forgotten about the Parcells' years?  That was the one chance we had to actually win the SB (had we held on to that 10-0 2nd half lead in Denver).

Regarding your buddy Mike (who Chris Fowler interviewed after you), did you cut your buddy down?

I hear he went to an alley next to the port authority and dug a shallow grave

Thomas only did anything in contract years

It's funny if you go back to 4:01:00 and Suzy asks Jaws with a straight face why the Pats go back to Brady instead of Bledsoe and Jaws just about explodes...

It's nice how time has mellowed the pain.
