Rodgers unexcused absence for mandatory minicamp (Merged)

Literally the first follow up question from the media would be whether it's an excused absence or not.

And he doesn't have to answer it.

True, but that's bad PR.  And a non-answer basically answers the question anyway.

Well calling out your QB is also bad PR which is what Saleh does. He is and always has been in over his head as a HC.

Very concerning.

Knowing Rodgers is already limited in his abilities - he would have to be 100% all-in mentally to really give this team a shot.

FJ, just imagine the reaction if Zach Wilson missed a single mandatory practice to attend a fundraiser somewhere. The media would have run him up a flagpole.

He did attend multiple voluntary activities for two years.  I still think it's a non issue.

Going to have to agree to disagree.  Trying to mask the obvious would only make things worse.

Saleh presented the facts to the media.  Aaron is not present at minicamp, and it is an inexcused absence.  Rodgers has been communicating since OTAs that he will be attending an event that is important to him.  Rodgers is subject to fines based on the CBA schedule.

He didn't "call out" Rodgers.  His job, in this particular situation, is to make a statement to the media about players who are not present at mandatory minicamp.

If there has been communication and Rodgers told them he will not be there because he has an important event, wouldnt that be an excused absence?

I called my boss and said that I had to miss a meeting because my 6 year old has an art show at school.  If she doesn't sign my leave slip that absence is not excused.

Is he too soft or too hard? I'm having trouble figuring out which day it is.

I'll be so happy when I can go to my company that is paying me like 50 million a year and we have a mandatory must be there meeting and I can just say, naw, got something else to do.

you aren't valuable to your company.

He's essentially the face of the company.

and you forget that he came into work voluntary on his off days to work.

Then fun part is knowing every one of the beat guys are trying so hard right now to find out what that event is and be the first to report it.
It’ll end up being some random fan I’m sure.

my vote is on the Sandy Hook graduation

So your contention is that maybe Rodgers, who probably thinks the Earth is flat...is doing a commencement speech at an Ivy League School....or a High School?

no, attending a high school graduation.

if he was a speaker it would be known by now.

This is so overblown.... Rodgers is 100% committed to this team and I refuse to ding him for this...

But the reason I'm responding is only because it seems you have your priorities in order ... hope the hug you get this Sunday is one you always remember!

no.

my job does this all the time. you tell them you have something important like a wedding or kids ball game and they say that is not a approved day off. an unexcused absence. or AWOL.

usually we just get the name and pass number of who we talked to and depending on your record its a warning or a days suspension.

but we do call just like Rodgers so they know, but they just dont approve it.

Do the players get to fine the coaches when they cancel practices?

this is like George Costanza when his doctor goes away skiing for the day and nobody called George to cancel. George requires 24 hour notice of all cancelations.......cash or check?

Can’t multiple things be possible at the same time?

1. Rodgers is still committed to the team

2. This is a bad look:  a combo of poor PR, mixed ‘all-in’ messaging to a fairly young team, and a missed opportunity for an offense with a lot of new parts to build chemistry

Quite frankly, as the HC of the team, Saleh should have strongly considered either saying ‘no’ or pushing mini camp back.

She should have asked for your birth certificate. You’re too old to have a 6 year old! Haha

Don't know about Zach but.... The Great Mike White on the other hand...he would be made to be a hero.

He floats above all Jet QB's - past, present and future!

Can't wait for comments and excuses about rodgers not being used to his receivers yet and being 'rusty' after 3 games to start the year.

Come on dude. You are better than this. Old crap is always  rusty, you know that,
