I agree on all counts. But it’s about the money- the more combinations the more gear they sell. Plus too many wanted the disco era uni back- I personally love the classic. I’d prefer it more and lose the ugly ass black - but know the youngsters dig those. Everyone wins I guess.

In changing the logo, too, who even knows how much the team nets individually after it's all settled.

The amount of places everywhere that need to get torn down or redone is easy to overlook. All the uniforms, helmets, stadium signs, practice facility signs, office signs & letterhead -- basically everyplace you see a Jets logo in/from a team-owned facility.

It's not even how much they sell but how much more they sell than they would have sold if left alone. Most of that is how many buy a new jersey not because of a new player emerging or signing - e.g. Jets signing Rodgers - but rather only because of the new logo/uniform. While many will buy a new uniform jersey, most fans will maybe buy one new baseball hat, if even that, purely as a result of the logo/uniform change.

From there remove cost of goods, cost of advertising, and more. I don't think the team makes much on it tbh. Then consider most of the jersey/merch sales are through amazon & other retailers, not the team's store inside the stadium or jets website. When the dust settles, for that bulk of the merch sales that's not sold in the team's own stores, only ~10-15% of that goes to the teams, but then they have to split it with their 31 other business partners. So really it's 1/32nd of 15% of the additional sales they wouldn't have otherwise made with the old logo/uniform. It's not such a big money maker for the franchise owner, really. Bumping luxury box ticket prices probably makes at least as much, since it's a recurring increase in revenue that requires no investment.

It's a thing teams do to hopefully give the players & fans - and yeah, the owners - a little something to get excited about for a bit, but in the end it doesn't make a lot of extra net $ for the team individually. Not enough to dramatically overcome the millions & millions it probably costs to make the change in the first place.

These are gonna look even better than the Parcells versions.  Using the SB III number font is a subtle, yet fantastic, change.

Wonder if they debated internally about just going back to these full time. This is probably the Jets best look and has the most history.

80s retro is very much in style these days, so it makes sense to go with the 80s uniform. But I'm very happy they're keeping these around at least once or twice a year.

True - but I am going to be that pain in the _ss where the smallest difference bothers me

the stripes around the shoulders should go all the way around - not stop at the chest. And the front of the jersey needs to blend with the collar and shoulders and not have a hard line across.

Yes I have issues when it comes to clothes.

I feel your pain, but the reason they do that is because the sleeves are so much shorter nowadays. That stripe went around the arm in the 60s. You want them to bring it all the way under the armpit on these? I agree that they look awkward, but I think that would make them a lot worse.

Did not consider the sleeve length your point makes perfect sense

it would be nice though to go to that jersey with the longer sleeve and number embedded in

prob woukd simply not work with pads they use today
