Copernicus
Great work. I cant figure out the TEs Specifically the signing of Anthony Firsker. He has NFL experience so he signed here expecting to make the roster I would assume. Conklin and Ruckert seem cemented at TEs 1&2 Yeboah just signed an extention and has a role on Specials Kuntz developing nicely and praised by Rodgers. We're not keeping 5 TEs (I would imagine) How does Firsker stick without moving one of the TEs on the roster?

Rob Moore
Nice work. Some of the position groups seem pretty cut and dry….like CB and safety. But there are some majorly tough decisions to be made on the DL, WRs, TEs. DL scares me bc there’s alot of young talent there that we could lose if cut. Do we think Firkser sticks strictly as a FB?

I think they feel like he's developing nicely but he was always a long-term project and they are not (and were never) expecting to rely on him in year 2. Next year will be telling for him - if they resign Yeboah next offseason that would be a bad sign for Kuntz.
varjet
This makes a lot of sense: keeping only 2 QBs frees up a spot. Is Izzy kept as the 4th RB now? I can see that. He has raw talent and JD saves face. Another team will sign him-he will not make the PS. It’s 4 TEs-Conklin, Firkser, Ruckert, Yeboah. Kuntz is on the PS and makes the roster next year, or is cut. Those are the 6 WRs-Brownless makes it if someone gets hurt. Those are the 10 OL. They will dip into the cuts depending on who gets hurt. We should emphasize OL on the PS. It’s 50/50 Reddick is on this team. Takk could make team instead. This is the strongest position group on the team, and players that are cut will get picked up. Those are the 4 LBs. JD saves another draft pick in Barnes. The guys likely cut/PS are not impressive. Those are the 6 CBs, and it’s another group of cuts/PS that seem no name. Ditto for the 4 safeties. Maybe its me, but even though its a strong roster, from this it does not appear, absent injuries, that there are many questions on who makes the team. Really only a couple of spots up for grabs, if that.
JKlecko
Excellent job! I have a couple of questions and 1-2 disagreements. I agree with you that Cohen probably would have made the roster as RB4 and KR, but now that he is retired, what do you think will happen? Do you see the Jets keeping Izzy, or keeping another WR, TE or player at some other position, and who do you think will be the return man? At TE you have that they keep 4 TEs, but after Firkser, you say that you think he wins the 3rd and final TE spot on the roster, then you list Yeboah with nothing beside his name. So, do you see the Jets keeping Yeboah or just 3 with Firkser. Yeboah is a good STer and has been coming on in practices. I think he makes the team, but agree that they may keep 4 TEs including Firkser. On the OL you say you think they keep 10 and Xavier Newman is the 10th player, but then you say that you think Glaser and Hanson are bubble players, say that Hanson is cut and goes to the PS, but what about Hanson? Do you mean that the Jets keep 11 OL, or do you see Glaser cut and going to the PS, or just cut? You think they keep 9 DL. Earlier this offseason, I thought that they would only keep 9, but now I think there's a decent chance that they keep 10. We know how Saleh likes to rotate DL to keep them fresh. Takk has looked great so far in TC, but that's been against 2nd and 3rd stringers. I want to see how he does against our 1st string OL. If he can be just a dominant vs our 1st string OL, with his experience, speed, and experience with Ulbrich, I think he makes the team as #9. If he doesn't keep up the level of play or disappears in preseason, then he's gone or on the PS. I think Watt has shown enough that unless he flops the rest or TC and in preseason, he could make the roster. I'm not sure he makes it through to the PS if he's waived. I think Holmes was on our PS last year or the year before. I think he can make it through again. McGregor hasn't made much of a splash in TC so far, but he has a good pedigree, so I think the rest of TC and preseason will tell the tale on him. As of right now, I'll be mildly surprised if he doesn't make the PS. The battle at LB between Surratt and Barnes is going to be interesting. I'd hate to lose either one. JD drafted Barnes and Saleh seems to love Surratt, but I can't see the Jets keeping 5 LBs, so one of them will have to go to the PS. Eguavoen made some good plays last year and I think he plays STs, and he's 31 so he probably goes to the PS since it's an "all in" year, but I'm curious to see what the Jets think of Ciarlo and Sirmon. The draft reports on both were good. Ciarlo has an interception and a couple of splash plays in TC, but I haven't heard Sirmon's name, but according the writeups about the Jets UDFAs that I read from several sources, Sirmon sounded like he could be one of the best 2-3 of those UDFAs. Could one of them possibly replace Eguavoen on the PS? I doubt it, but maybe one of them joins him on the PS. At CB, Codrington has made a splash play or two in TC and is in the competition for the return job, so I can see his making the PS. Why do you see Sheffield making the PS? Wasn't he just signed along with Martinez? With Sauce, MC II, Stiggers, Echols, and JBC, all being younger, I don't think any of the young CBs have a realistic shot of ever starting for the Jets unless several of the CBs went down with injuries and something were to happen and the Jets couldn't re-sign Sauce. I think Reed will walk in FA next year, and they may let Echols walk in FA as well since he's had some off-field issues, but they still would have Sauce, MC II (assuming that he's extended as he should be), Stiggers and JBC. I agree at S, although Key could possibly sneak onto the roster if he continues making plays in TC and lights it up in preseason. If there is an injury or an IOL, S, or player at another position where the Jets' depth isn't ideal gets cut by another team, I could see the Jets adding a player or two, and then 1-2 of the players that we agreed would be kept would have to be put on IR, tried to be sneaked onto the PS, or traded/released. It's going to be interesting.

He still hasn't shown that he's anything other than a great athlete running around out there on the field? He may be lucky to make it back onto the PS this year. He's shown some development, and TEs can take 3 years to develop, so the Jets could keep him and next year be the make or break year. It would be great if he could develop into a weapon, but I haven't seen his name mentioned once in OTAs or TC. Rodgers said that Kuntz showed improvement at the end of last season, but we haven't heard anything since. If he has any hopes of making it onto the roster this year, he's gotta start lighting it up in practice now and then in preseason. or pray that a couple of the TEs go down with injuries. Surratt excels in coverage and Saleh loves him. He could make the team over Barnes. I agree with you that Cohen probably would have made the roster as RB4 and KR, but now that he is retired, what do you think will happen? Do you see the Jets keeping Izzy, or keeping another WR, TE or player at some other position, and who do you think will be the return man? This gives Izzy a flash of life but he's going to be competing against basically the entire bottom of the roster for that 53rd spot, and I would not be remotely surprised if it's ultimately taken by someone not currently on the roster. Quote At TE you have that they keep 4 TEs, but after Firkser, you say that you think he wins the 3rd and final TE spot on the roster, then you list Yeboah with nothing beside his name. So, do you see the Jets keeping Yeboah or just 3 with Firkser. Yeboah is a good STer and has been coming on in practices. I think he makes the team, but agree that they may keep 4 TEs including Firkser. Yeah. That was an artifact of me starting out trying to save a roster spot at TE, seeing how the other positions stacked up, and then changing my mind and keeping 4. I think Yeboah is likely on the roster, but he's one of those guys who could easily lose his spot to a depth or developmental player at another position if they really like a guy. Quote On the OL you say you think they keep 10 and Xavier Newman is the 10th player, but then you say that you think Glaser and Hanson are bubble players, say that Hanson is cut and goes to the PS, but what about Hanson? Do you mean that the Jets keep 11 OL, or do you see Glaser cut and going to the PS, or just cut? Yeah, went back and forth on that. I think probably the Practice Squad. Quote You think they keep 9 DL. I think it's likely Watts makes the PSquad unless he flashes hard in the pre-season. I doubt they keep 10, just because they only go 8 deep on game day and those 8 are all so strong. Plus they'll have the option to elevate guys from the Practice Squad for a couple of games each. Maybe Watts sticks if he impresses, but that's one of those "final 4 spots" that can go to almost any position group Quote The battle at LB between Surratt and Barnes is going to be interesting. Re the CBs, they are probably losing Reed and Echols next offseason (I assume they'll extend Carter) which means they need a pipeline, and while JBC and Stiggers get first shot at those spots neither of them have an NFL track record. So I assume the team will want to keep two young guys at CB on the PS so that they have more development time and more options at CB 4/5/6 next year. (if they keep Carter and lose Reed, then either Stiggers or JBC will have shown enough that the team is comfortable with them at CB2 or they'll be drafting someone there in the first 2-3 rounds next year.
