Popular Post Jet_Engine1
I was watching YT with my 12 year old who (unfortunately) has developed the same odd, dark, and kind of twisted humor that I shared with my Dad and I was showing him the old "PsychoGrams" segment from MTV Liquid Television. I don't know if anyone else remembers that, super obscure little shorts from 30+ years ago where a person with a sinister voice does narration over old postcards - totally absurd and weird but we were laughing like crazy. My wife (who is the epitome of "normal") comes over and was like, "Why is this funny?". And I just said, "You can't explain humor to others, it just is". And it got me thinking... My wife likes watching Stand-up, and we'll occasionally watch a stand up special from "Mainstream" guys like Sebastian Maniscalco, Jim Gaffigan, the guy with the puppets, Jo Koi, etc. .... and I think they're TERRIBLE. Boring, insipid, lame "humor" to me, and the crowd is rolling... . I always disliked Adam Sandlers "Humor" and think his movies cause Brain Damage, but MILLIONS of people are convinced he's funny. Meanwhile, I laugh like a maniac at stuff like Video Game glitch compilations (FInding new and interesting ways of torturing Marcy Long, the character from Fallout 4 cracks me up). Maybe watching Monty Python and Faulty Towers damaged my brain as a kid? Everyone else liked Benny Hill (Boobies!), I like the Pythons. Even guys like Carlin, I liked some of his takes and observations, but didn't think he was actually "Funny", but Bob Newhart's dry wit made me laugh. Anyone else have an off-kilter sense of humor that others find.... odd or deranged?? Oh, for reference, here's the Full Collection of "PsychoGrams"... 1
Popular Post Warfish
@Sperm Edwards, I think we found you another "George Carlin isn't funny" compatriot here. @Jet_Engine1, when it comes to the arts (Music, movies, TV, dance, paintings, etc.) "to each their own". Everyone sees art differently. Like what you like. It's not like you're telling u you enjoy YouTubes of small animal torture or something, dark humor is common enough and perfectly fine, if not as common as "mainstream" humor I suppose. 3

This sentence is funnier/wittier than 99% of George Carlin's material. Also thanks for the tagged post -- every now & then I need a reminder that we have a Lounge forum here. 1
JetsfaninNorthHollywood
Everyone's humor is different. For the life of me, I don't find Kevin Hart remotely funny. Ditto Adam Sandler. Yet, I played some Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, and George Carlin for my younger coworkers and they either said it was "too cringe", or "insensitive". Oddly enough they didn't mind Dave Chappelle, whom I find funny, and is similar to Pryor. Also, I've had people tell me Seinfeld wasn't funny and Friends was hilarious. I never got Friends, it was just an updated "Threes Company". Whereas Seinfeld wasn't about anything and that was part of the joke.

No Andrew Dice Clay? 😏
JetsfaninNorthHollywood
His first album was good, but follow up, The Day the Laughter Died was boring. I wouldn't bother playing Bill Hicks, as his material would go over their heads.

Here’s a pretty good glitch of sorts: I also like when people do sports video game career modes and fail intentionally to see what happens. These are great:

You’re so fat….that your cholesterol, blood pressure and triglyceride numbers are all quite high and we are all highly concerned about your health. bicketybam
If you laughed so hard you almost pissed yourself when John Travolta slammed that needle into Uma Thurman's chest in Pulp Fiction then we have the same sense of humor 😅

I have NEVER seen them laugh so hard, especially the "Fechie la vache!" scene. I have them on a video laughing to the point of stomach-ache at that. Good times!
