Sonny Werblin
IMO Irv Charles and Chazz Surrat make the roster. I believe the ST coach gets at least one player and that would be Charles. Surrat is a solid ST contributor, fits the mold of a Saleh D LB and Saleh loves him some Chazz.
mrcoops
Good work, Sarge. Can't disagree with much of this. Maybe Charles over Abanikanda - Boyer loves Charles and will bang the table for him. I like keeping Newman as the C/G swingman, although the Jets seem to like Glaser so could opt for him instead. Sam Eguavoen, I think might be one of those veterans who is cut and re-signed after week 1, or a guy the Jets add to the PS and elevate later once injuries open up a spot. Agree that Brownlee probably doesn't make the 53 - too many other options, and he hasn't shone in preseason games.

JetsRay
Great job. I think Adrian Martinez either makes team as #3 with Travis going on IR, or at least is brought back to PS, lot of raw talent there. Saleh oves Surratt, I go back and forth with him and Eguavoen. I think Firkser is going to make the team as the FB/HB, who can also play ST's

CTJetsFan
Pretty spot on Sarge. I do think that Brandon Smith is making a case for a WR spot on the 53. Larz
Charles had a tackle on kickoff coverage I think last night and should have blocked that punt but he was trying to avoid roughing. he’s making the team. Third QB is my biggest concern/curiosity rn. Peasley and Martinez stink. I wonder if they sign a veteran for the 3rd QB rule. JD has to have a plan for a legit 3rd QB. I don’t think that guy is on the roster today.

I think you are very close! Maybe keep Irvin Charles and release Mr. Converse as the DB? Reason for this is that Charles can play special teams better than Converse can. And, do we really need 6 defensive backs? I mean 5 Db's and 4 safeties is 9 total in the backfield. Charles has a real high potential level IMO, and I would like to see how he progresses this year. Converse on the other hand, is what he is. A quality backup, that will always never be good enough to be a starter, IMO. I also think that Max Mitchell took a step back last year from his rookie year, and he needed to play great to make this roster. Personally, I agree with you; Mitchell should be the cut here. 1
Jethead
Thanks Sarge. Always fine work. Hard to disagree, but Charles is a lock. I like Taylor more than Brownlee, but I think both would clear waivers. Same for Surratt so I agree there. I think Key will make the 53, Coddrington to the PSquad. I do expect Reddick but maybe not until week two so McKinley gets a 1-week reprieve. Agree Mitchell will lose out to either Newman or Glaser. Levao, Kuntz and MacGregor will make the PSquad. QB3 is not on the roster.
varjet
One or both of Martinez and Peasley make the PS. IF AR8 and and TT are hurt, the season and FO is done. Either of them should be able to hand the ball to RBs.
Joejet
As always Sarge quality work. If we truly are a go for it team this year I agree with a couple of others that we need a veteran QB for #3 based on Rodgers and Taylors age and injury history. I would keep a close eye on the Cleveland situation as they have 4 QBs with Watson and Winston pretty much locks. That leaves Huntley and Thompson-Robinson fighting for that last position. Thompson-Robinson showed some positive traits when forced to play last year. There should also be a number of other veterans that get the axe.

I think Harrell is worth keeping around on the PS to see if he can be polished - his speed is world-class. 1
Warfish
I'd be fine if this is how it works out. Seems like a very good team on paper. Won't really know how good till the starters actually play in games that count. Injury risk is obvious and widespread. Discussed to death already. Not overly sad about any of the projected cuts. But I'm less a fringe-fan than many here, obviously. Looks like a good roster to go into the season with a lot of optimism. But I remain reserved in my optimism till we see it play for real.
JKlecko
Here's my version of the final 53 and PS. It's very similar to yours, but with a few differences. Offense (25) QB (2) – Rodgers, Taylor RB (3) – Hall, Allen, Davis WR (7) – Wilson, Williams, Corley, Gipson, Lazard, Brownlee, Charles TE (3) – Conklin, Ruckert, Yeboah OL (10) – Smith, Simpson, Tippman, AVT, Moses, Fashanu, Schweitzer, Warren, Levao, Newman Defense (25) DL (10) – JJ, Q, Kinlaw, Clemons, McDonald, Foku, Solomon, McKinley, Taylor, Watts LB (5) – Mosely, Q Williams, Sherwood, Barnes, Surratt CB (6) – Sauce, Reed, JBC, Stiggers, Echols, MC II S (4) – Adams, Clark, Davis, Oliver STs (3) LS - Hennessy K - Zuerlein P - Morstead PS (16) This is the wildcard. Any of the following players could be claimed by another team. JD also usually signs a cut or two from other teams. I think the Jets should keep both QBs as one could get signed off the PS, but think they'll probably only keep 1. Without the players with question marks after their names and with only 1 QB, I have 14 of the 16 spots filled. The other 2 could either be from those with question marks, players cut from other teams, one from another team and one with the question mark,or if the Jets do sign a camp cut or two, the players who were cut to make room for the addition of the camp cuts. I don't remember a deeper, more talented roster in a long time, maybe ever. QB - Peasley and/or Martinez RB - Izzy, Valladay? Deon Jackson? WR - Malik Taylor, Tyler Harrell, Brandon Smith TE - Kuntz, Sefcik? Firkser? OL - Latham, Mitchell Edge - McGregor, Holmes LB - Eguavoen DT - Hector CB - Codrington S - Oliver, Key? Monroe? *Foreign Exemption - Obinna Eze (doesn't count in the 16 PS players) 3

He did it last year and I'm pretty sure that he was playing C on Saturday night. I was wondering if they considered him over Schweitzer. He is one guy that Carter seems to like. I also think MItchell makes it. I think guys that can play tackle are valued more than guards if they are going to stash guys on practice squads or using poached guys it will more likely be at G than T. I think that the original list makes sense, but I think they will do a bunch of odd stuff to keep/stash guys. Lat year they cut the K and P while they sorted the roster. WIth the first game Monday night I'd expect plenty of shenanigans. I think they like Eguavoen and he will very likely play in games on specials, but they will probably cut him and bring him back on the practice squad. I don't think during the frenzy of the mini-draft that he will be poached. Surratt is only 27 and was a college QB that has only been playing LB since 2019. He was a 3rd rounder of the Vikings who moved on when they dumped ZImmer and switched systems. Eguavoen is a 31 year old special teams LB. Others have said it, but Charles seems like a lock. He is a special teamer and he was shining on specials. Almost blocked a punt. Sarge had Taylor in that spot and Taylor will probably be on IR, so whatever. Stiggers has looked good and looked good as a gunner which will be a big help. They have only been carrying 5 corners and only lost Hall. I don't see them adding that many, particularly if they carry Oliver at S. Don't know what to make of Brownlee. They seem to like him, but he doesn't exactly shine. I like Izzy and think he has generally looked good, but I don't think he plays cover teams and they haven't had him on returns. Not sure what everyone sees in Davis being so much better, but the team sure seems to agree with everyone. Smith has made some catches, but usually on broken plays and he seems lumbering. Kuntz also has not looked good. To me he is not so much looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane, as looks like Frankenstein, plays like Frankenstein. Leonard Taylor has looked good to me. Seems like they would want him Watts and McGregor around. Blades too, though he did drop an easy pick.
addage
As an aside, if you are getting tired of us telling you that you're a great resource to the forum, let us know. But thanks!! The obvious roster questions are Reddick and 3rd string QB. Reddick will or won't. Screw him if he doesn't. And I think there will be a new 3rd string QB brought in. But no clue who it might be. Add to PS after final cuts? I love drafting Jordan Travis. But I think he should stay on NFI. This is a sabbatical year. JD needs to be creative. There has to be somebody available if either Roger or Taylor miss some games!

I thought Glaser looked good last year in preseason, but didn't fare so well during the season, and imo has not looked as good in preseason this year. Levao has the UFL experience, and he got the most snaps last week. I think the Jets are trying to get him ready for the NFL for this season. Also, as you say at the end, Mitchell's ability to play OG, may keep him on the roster over Newman, but I think the Jets need to keep another IOL who can play C. LB - I'd be shocked if Eguavoen beat out Surrat. Surrat has had a good camp and Saleh supposedly loves him. He's a good player, and I think he plays STs, but I'd really be surprised if he makes it over Surratt. WR - I like Taylor a lot and wish there was room for him on the roster, but I don't see it. I think Brownlee has had just as a good a TC and has more upside. Unless it's true that Gunners aren't as important with the new KO rules or unless Charles hip injury is serious, I would be shocked if he isn't on the roster. He's their best gunner and one of their best STs players. Codrington has shown a lot of ability and promise, but it would be risky to have a rookie doing those two jobs in an "all-in" season. DL - I definitely be surprised to see Jalyn Holmes making the team over Taylor or Watts. Taylor has too much promise, and there's no way he'd make it to the PS. I don't think Watts or McGregor will make it to the PS either. The Jets paid Watts too much to sign. They're not going to risk losing him. He makes the roster. McGregor is coming on late in TC. In a way that's bad news, because it means the Jets will lose him, because I just don't see a spot for him, even if Reddick never appears. Maybe he beats McKinley, but having a veteran around could help the young Edge group. Holmes could be that veteran presence. Both Holmes and McKinley are 28. Holmes maybe better at setting the Edge than McKinley, as the latter is primarily a speed rusher, so maybe that helps him make the team. Even though it's an all-in year, I would be surprised if the Jets didn't hold on to younger players who have a higher ceiling/ more upside than a 28 year-old player (Holmes) who hasn't done much in his NFL career. CB - If the Jets think that Codrington can handle being the top return man and the top gunner, then I'm all for it. The only reason I would keep Charles is because he is a proven gunner and excellent STs player. Codrington defintely has more upside. I think he's faster, and he also has potential of being able to play at CB, whereas Charles has stone hands, and I never want to see him on the field at WR again.

He looked good early in TC, but hadn't heard much of him lately, nor seen him in preseason. Do you know when he got injured? I haven't seen a report that he was injured in practice or preseason. Thanks!
JKlecko
23 hours ago, Alka said: This is one of your very best lists. Release JBC? Why? He's has been great in coverage in both TC and preseason. There's no way that he should be released. You have it totally backwards. Charles has high potential as what? It certainly isn't as a WR. He has stone hands. I never want to see him on the field at WR again. Converse was injured last year, and has been making great strides this season. He has a MUCH higher ceiling than Charles. I disagree that he will never be good enough to be a starter. I can easily see him or Stiggers being CB #2 when Reed is gone. 1

I disagree. Codrington has shown potential at DB in TC, and he has looked very good as the return man. Key has shown little if anything. Maybe one is brought back on the PS until Jordan Travis is healthy. Travis isn't going to play this season. He will either stay on the NFI or IR list all season. The Jets need a viable #3 QB who can play. Who knows when Travis would even be healthy enough to begin practicing?

I think Adrian Martinez either makes team as #3 with Travis going on IR, or at least is brought back to PS, lot of raw talent there. Saleh oves Surratt, I go back and forth with him and Eguavoen. I think Firkser is going to make the team as the FB/HB, who can also play ST's Good point about Firkser. I could definitely see him make the team. If nothing else, I think he goes on the PS.
