Would you offer Aaron Rodgers a long-term position with the NY Jets?

Recommended Posts

The intention here is not to undermine our current staff, but I believe Aaron Rodgers could be a transformative coach.

Aaron Rodgers seems like an ideal choice for the head coach position of the NY Jets. While some may disagree, I invite them to present reasons against this perspective.

My rationale is straightforward: he likely has the capability to oversee the entire organization, including offense, special teams, and defense. In my view, he embodies the complete package. I have mentioned this before, and my intuition strongly suggests he would excel as the leader of this organization.

I would not.

What position are you contemplating here?

And to what end, to have a cool "name" associated with the team, or something more meaningful?

I would hire him as the head coach of the NY Jets.

I can’t imagine that he would be remotely interested in doing all of the constant work that a head coach is required to do.

But if he had a genuine desire to coach (and take it seriously) let’s start him out as a QB coach / OC first and see what happens.

He will not be the first rookie coach. What about the number of years in this league?  He has demonstrated excellent leadership skills while tutoring all aspects of the game (i.e., briefing the defense during OTAs, running the offense, etc.).  I believe that he is capable of coaching this team, intuitively and rationally speaking,

It's not just a matter of knowing the game or being smart or wise enough to coach. Being a head coach in the NFL is incredibly hard work and requires a tremendous commitment of time and energy that a lot of people are unwilling to give. There's also the argument that former star players usually don't make the best coaches because they expect too much out of players and don't have the patience to deal with anything less than greatness. I would also question whether Aaron has the right personality for coaching, in general.

I have no doubt he could design a great playbook, install a gameplan, and call plays. I just doubt that he would have the interest in, desire to, or passion for being a head coach.

He's been talking about retirement for like 5 years - he has a lot of interests outside of football and feels like he's on is way out of the game, if anything.

It's a fair assessment.

Aaron Rodgers wants nothing to do with football once he retires. He said it on the Boomer and Gio interview.

Anyone with two functioning brain cells knows he doesn't want to be a coach in the NFL 😅
